Along with many fans I wasn't very happy to see Ed Brubaker resurrect Cap's first partner Bucky whom was supposedly killed in WWII. It wasn't just because I believed and still do some characters should stay dead, it was mainly due to the fact bringing him back was just a huge plot hole, since he did appear among the Legion of the Unliving, which means he was in fact dead. Well, this wasn't the first time Marvel pulled something like this, and it's not going to be the last either. In any case, Ed Brubaker made some noise in the Captain America books beginning with the Winter Soldier arc. Red Menace is the follow up story as it continues to build upon past story elements. Unfortunately, it's not exactly newbie friendly because you need to know what happened previously to understand both the Winter Soldier's and Red Skull's situations, since nothing is recapped here at any point. This TPB collects the two story arcs Collision Course 1-2, and Twenty First Century Blitz 1-4 across Captain America issues 15-21.
While the story does have its level of suspense and even touching on down to Earth themes concerning corporate hands pulling governments strings, this is an all out action comic at heart with plenty of faces good and bad.Read more ›
