The first draft of this heartwarming story was written in 1993. After retirement from the Windham, NH School System, the author spent two and a half years rewriting and editing her work. Finally, her editor, Mr. Jay Schofield of Martha's Vineyard, returned her completed manuscript to her on September 8, 2001. After the horrendous attack on September 11, Andrea wrote dozens of letters to New York editors, but to no avail.The author believes both American school children and American adults would benefit from learning about the past, as it is their lifeline to their futures.
