Being an avid gardener, I have read many books on composting. Many of the composting books provide explicit detail of how the compost is derived, including specific values or quantities for the mixture. Although this book speaks of experimenting with various by-products to produce compost, it provides no specifics for replicating the author's mix. If you are looking for a book that provides a means of determining Captain Compost's exact mix, save your money!! Also, for the price, the book is extremely small. I did not get much out of the book, from a personal standpoint.
