What I love about this EP is the B-sides. Captain Easychord is feautured here in a ridiculous short version (the whole second part is missing) but the B-sides make up for it. 'Long Life Love' and 'Moodles' are quite similar, long songs which seem to be made up out of several ideas that are just stitched together. 'Moodles' is the better one, 'Long Life Love' has a breathtaking end, melody-wise. The best song here is 'Canned Candies', absolutely one of Stereolab's most moving songs ever released (and I'm a big fan) and indeed a brilliant slice of avant-pop, as someone here mentioned earlier.

This EP is excellent and only contains one track ('Captain Easychord') on the soon-to-drop Sound Dust. The three tracks exclusive to this disc incl two epics ('Long Live Love' and 'Moodles' both over seven minutes) and a terrific slice of avant-pop ('Canned Candies'). The Amazon reviewer warns that the new album is 'easy-listening lounge that's almost to gentle on the ears' but, if this EP is any indication, it will be dazzling - somber, complex textures with lovely shifts in tone and tempo.

After many months of owning this - I recently listened to it again mainly for the three bonus tracks that didn't appear on Sound Dust. Now I wonder why these tracks didn't appear on Sound Dust in the first place. Well worth the small price for nearly 25 minutes of Stereolab goodness - this EP outperforms even some of their better album tracks and rounds out the Sound Dust experience perfectly. Canned Candies is exceptional - and its always good to hear Captain Easychord again. Buy this and enjoy.
