Editorial Reviews

Review

Captain Stoneheart and the Truth Fairy' is a very imaginative tale that is well-told with its mingling of narrative and dialogue. Bachalo's artwork is incredibly detailed and a pleasure to delve into. --Bob Holt, Comic Snob

There's a moral at the heart of this tale, but that never obscures the joyous fun. --Marc Mason, Comics Waiting Room

'Stoneheart' is a classically told fairy tale that will capture you from the first sentence with its charm and wit. --Paul Skevington, Sci-Fi Crowsnest

5.0 out of 5 stars More Marvelous Elephantmen, July 18, 2008
This review is from: Captain Stoneheart And The Truth Fairy (Hardcover)
As a long time fan of the elephantmen I was a bit concerned when I found out they were doing a monthly book without my hero Ladronn, boy was I wrong and this over sized reprint only strenghens my thoughts.

Joe Kelly and Chris Bachelo have taken the main character put him in to a one of the most beautiful childrens books i have ever read ( i work as a teaching assistant at a school for kids with learning difficulties and they have fallen in love with it as much as me )and i have read quite a few.

The artwork is amazing (anyone who knows c.bachelo knows to expect the best) and the story is tender, heartfelt and thought provoking.

The extras are not to shabby too, the cd adds a new dimention and seeing bachelos original pencils is worth the price itself.

If your a fan of elephantmen or just interested in a great childrens book you cant go wrong with this

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story, September 2, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Captain Stoneheart And The Truth Fairy (Hardcover)
Captain Stoneheart and the Truth Fairy is a wonderful story with amazing graphics. My 6yr old wants to read it again and again. It's an exciting story, with swashbuckling hippos, and a great lesson snuck in at the end. Kids will love the pirates and fairies, and the drawings keeps the adults interested too! Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breaks the mold of traditional comics AND fairy tales, November 30, 2008
This review is from: Captain Stoneheart And The Truth Fairy (Hardcover)
It's not your typical comic book, nor is it your typical fairy tale. It's a richly illustrated and solidly written graphic novel in its own right, but the tale itself is great. It's something that kids (over 10?) will really like, but adults can enjoy too. There's swashbuckling and pirates, but also redemption and moral struggle.

Well worth reading!
