More Marvelous Elephantmen,
This review is from: Captain Stoneheart And The Truth Fairy (Hardcover)
As a long time fan of the elephantmen I was a bit concerned when I found out they were doing a monthly book without my hero Ladronn, boy was I wrong and this over sized reprint only strenghens my thoughts.
Joe Kelly and Chris Bachelo have taken the main character put him in to a one of the most beautiful childrens books i have ever read ( i work as a teaching assistant at a school for kids with learning difficulties and they have fallen in love with it as much as me )and i have read quite a few. The artwork is amazing (anyone who knows c.bachelo knows to expect the best) and the story is tender, heartfelt and thought provoking. The extras are not to shabby too, the cd adds a new dimention and seeing bachelos original pencils is worth the price itself. If your a fan of elephantmen or just interested in a great childrens book you cant go wrong with this

Great Story,

This review is from: Captain Stoneheart And The Truth Fairy (Hardcover)
Captain Stoneheart and the Truth Fairy is a wonderful story with amazing graphics. My 6yr old wants to read it again and again. It's an exciting story, with swashbuckling hippos, and a great lesson snuck in at the end. Kids will love the pirates and fairies, and the drawings keeps the adults interested too! Highly recommended.

Breaks the mold of traditional comics AND fairy tales,
By
This review is from: Captain Stoneheart And The Truth Fairy (Hardcover)
It's not your typical comic book, nor is it your typical fairy tale. It's a richly illustrated and solidly written graphic novel in its own right, but the tale itself is great. It's something that kids (over 10?) will really like, but adults can enjoy too. There's swashbuckling and pirates, but also redemption and moral struggle.
Well worth reading!

Have Fairy Tales Ever Been So Great?,
This review is from: Captain Stoneheart And The Truth Fairy (Hardcover)
I don't know what to start off with first. This stand-alone story was amazing. It was a refreshing break from all other comics that I've been reading. A great fairy tale and one that I will definitely be passing on to fellow friends to borrow and read themselves (or listen to, they've got that sweet CD included). Like all of the Hip Flask/Elephantmen collections (and single issues come to think of it) it has plenty of extras which a lot of books leave out nowadays and without bonus material whats the point in buying collections if you've got the singles already. Also, Hip Flask and Elephantmen are by far the most under recognized comics I have ever come across. These comics are absolutely amazing and nearly all of the comic readers I come across have never read or even heard of them. It's quite a bummer to see such an awesome serious not get the attention it deserves. Definitely one of my top 3 comics of all time!

An old style fairy tale, a modern day classic!,

Even if you have never heard of the "Elephantmen" comic book, you will enjoy this stand alone story. A great story that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike is told by the writer Joe Kelly. The art is outstanding and intricately detailed, so much detail is in every page that it will take a second and third look to see it all. Artist Chris Bachalo's pencilled pages alone are worth the price of the book. If you want to read a great story with fantastic art to go along with it then give Captain Stoneheart a try, you wont regret it!

My kid's are older and they absolutely love this book. A great story with an unexpected ending. They love to listen to the story over and over on the CD. The graphics are amazing and the story compelling. Absolute must have! Pirate stories have never been a big thing for my children but they read and listen to this one over and over again.

This is my kids first graphic novel and they are HOOKED! It's a great story, fairytale and adventure. It is beautifully written and illustrated. The kids read it over and over! It even comes with a CD so you can hear the story as well! Even if comic/graphic novels aren't your thing, THIS ONE is worth getting! It is a high quality, hard-bound book that you will keep.
