Book Description

November 2, 2010
Captain Stupendous is having a bad... life. His ex-wife, Mrs. Mind, is marrying a mortal. His eldest son, Kid Liberty, may be gay. His daughter, Tesla Curl, can't get a date to the prom. And, his mortal middle child... what's-his-name... is, well, mortal. Over the course of a very long day-and-a-half, Captain Stupendous attempts to fix his daughter's problems, work things out with the son he cares about, and do whatever he can to prevent Mrs. Mind (soon to be Mrs. Mind-Meriweather) from being happy without him.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, not great December 6, 2010

To start off: I've been reading Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal for years and was excited to support Zach. However, I was somewhat disappointed in Captain Stupendous. It does start strong and it has a few moments of brilliance throughout, but early on the same jokes start to get rehashed over and over. The blurb is exactly what you get - roughly 20 pages of jokes about each of the problems in Captain Stupendous's life. Without much of a plot or character development they start to wear thin by the end.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wasn't a big fan of this one January 18, 2011
Format:Paperback
I'm a huge fan of Zach's SMBC web-comic and when I saw that he had released Captain Stupendous, I ordered a copy right away. I read through it shortly after it arrived and when I got the the end my first thought was: "That's it?" Captain Stupendous had a few laughs but after a few pages the jokes started getting stale. It lacked a real plot and had no character development to speak of. Unfortunately, the whole thing was a bit of a let-down and I can't really recommend it unless you're such a huge Zach Weiner fan that you want to buy it just to support him. Hopefully he'll learn from this mistake and go one to write something truly awesome, but in the meantime I'll just continue reading SMBC and pretend that Captain Stupendous didn't happen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta love skeevy super-heros November 22, 2010
Format:Paperback
This comic is great fun -- I've always loved the 'Flawed hero' archetype, but this ... well, this is a little different. There's just the right amount of hyperbole. Hilarious writing, and (despite what that fellow with the one star review says) the art is an excellent complement to the story. I highly recommend.

is this the web comic or a sequel?
Hey, this is the author, Zach Weiner.

This is a print of the webcomic. However, we included a 6 page bonus adventure involving Mephisto and Maine Event, which I think you'll like quite a bit.

Also, if sales go well, perhaps they'll let us make a sequel.

Thanks!
Zach
