A great read on the making of a Star Trek movie., February 25, 1999

This review is from: Captain's Log: William Shatner's Personal Account of the Making of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (Paperback)
This book, "Captain's Log: William Shatner's Personal Account on the Making of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier" by Lisabeth Shatner (William Shatner's daughter, who was on the film's set & location shoots) is an excellent read on the making of a Star Trek movie. This book details the accounts on what lead star, co-writer, & director of Star Trek V, William Shatner, went through making this movie. Although this fifth movie is best remembered as not one of the best in the Star Trek film series, this book details the process on the making of a feature film. This book also includes details on the originally planned ending that had to be changed. Featuring interviews with the cast & crew, as well as 16 pages of photos, "Captain's Log" is an excellent read. For Star Trek fans as well as anyone interested on the process of filmmaking.

For the fans of Star Trek who may not rate this movie very high on their list, you need to read this. I enjoyed this film but others have said it almost ended the franchise. I would disagree with that as I think there were other films that were not so good, or so I feel. This book will give you insight to what Bill Shatner had to go through to get this movie done. I had no idea what it would take to be a director but it seems there is a lot more to it. As told by his daughter, Liz, it moves along and it never dull as it has many Shatner moments that will keep you going. If you really want to know what Shatner's movie or vision was really supposed to be. Then this is the book for you to find out what that is. I am glad I did and I have some new respect for Bill Shatner.

RARE Making of Star Trek V, August 14, 2011
This review is from: Captain's Log: William Shatner's Personal Account of the Making of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (Paperback)
I have to admit that I was originally disappointed with Star Trek V. Then after it hit home video it grew on me. Despite the worst Special Effects in the series and some jokes that were over the top it still had some good parts. I can see how it could have worked better. I have read everything else on this film but this book, so I want to find some time to read it.
The book arrived in stated conditon and in a timely fashion. Thank you for the Starlog Magazine.
