This was another excellent book! I highly recommend this series to anyone who is interested in or enjoys reading about the military. You should definitely read The Lieutenants first though, because the story is progressive. Can't wait to read the next in the series!

W.E.B. comes through again with a hard hitting fast paced novel. While the entire Brotherhood of war series is a spectecular blend of military action, espionage, and drama The Captians is the pinnacle of the series. The life of Lowell sees so many ups and downs in this book it would make most men fall apart but Griffin portrays these situations so realistically that I couldn't help but feel I was right there and feeling the emotions running through me. The key here is believability and W.E.B. comes through with flying colors. Well Done. Do yourself a favor and read this series, and make sure you take your heart medication before reading this particular book.

An informed, and detailed look into the careers of the military officers in the Korean war. Check out "the Duke" and his men racing to the link up point, and causing havoc for the enemy.Find out what S.T. Felter is doing, and see what MacMillan is doing now. But read the Lieutenants first and you will be greatly satisfied

The Captains is another great one from the master, W.E.B. Griffin. I'm one of those guys who prefers the broader range of great war novels like "The Triumph and the Glory" or "The Naked and the Dead", or the Cornwell Sharpe or Aubrey/Maturin books, but The Brotherhood of War books are terrific in their own right and well worth reading, every one of them.

With Brotherhood of War, Griffin definitely wrote an excellent series. His candid description of people and events makes you believe that you are a part of the book as well. Once I started this series I read all eight books in record time. The Captains describes our protagonists time in Korea, as well as some very defining moments in the life of Caraig Lowell. Don't miss this one.

I've read this series several times over the last 20 years or so, and just started it again after a 5+ year layoff. Reading it again I've forgotten how good of a storyteller Griffin was before writing with his son in his last few books. While this one sets the stage for each of his other series (i.e., Corps, Vigilantes, Philadelphia police series) with a rich guy who always bucks the system to beat up the bad guy, with this one you have good character developmet and dialogue, and get a history of the Army from WWII through Vietnam - Korea, tank development, army aviation, Green Berets, you name it.
I always liked rooting for Lowell, and each of us has a very tight stickler to the rules Bellmon in our lives - Griffin portrays his characters similar to people ni each of our lives. Reading each book in this series is well worth it - wish I could say the same about his latest books with Butterworth the IV!

WEB Griffin's second in the series of the Brotherhood of war. Having been completely addicted after reading the Lieutenants, I couldn't wait to read this book when it came out. Griffin's idea to present sequels that parallel military promotions is a great theme. As each person's career advances, so the plot line is moved along. This time, the Korean War breaks out, Lowell, Felter, MacMillan, Parker are there to do what only they can do - stop the bad guys.
Griffin can write with such authority because he was once a soldier, he knows his subject matter and has an uncanny ability to translate that to the reader. Largely based on fact, these novels put you there. Of course it helps that the heros are always near the top decision makers, are incredibly brave, good looking and studs to boot. I have read and re-read this book many times and thoroughly enjoyed it each time. If you want a very real picture of what the bond of brotherhood is like in the military, these are great novels.

The best of a great series!,

I love the whole Brotherhood of War series, but the Captains is my favorite. Griffin is the king of ground pounder fiction! If you skip the rest of the series, read this one!

I have read the entire series more than once, and it gets better every time I read it. Mr. Griffin definately has the gift for describing the military community. I gave 20 years to my country, and I can't wait for him to talk about the Air Force.

This was the best book in the series. W.E.B. Griffin's most interesting character of the whole series has got to be Craig Lowell. The book was quite realistic and emotionally thrilling.
