The only book of its kind!,
By
This review is from: Captive Care and Medical Reference for the Rehabilitation of Insectivorous Bats (Hardcover)
Scientists sit in their ivory towers and theorize about bat care. Lollar and French share their work and findings from the trenches, where real bat care takes place. The information contained in this book gives a factual, unique, easy-to-understand, and compassionate look into the complicated world of bat rehabilitation. While keeping public safety at the forefront, the book outlines specific details on the proper care of captive bats, including recommended supplies, life-insuring measurements, and diagrams. This book is an absolute must for bat rehabbers!

What would I do without it?,
By Deana K. (Eden Prairie, MN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Captive Care and Medical Reference for the Rehabilitation of Insectivorous Bats (Hardcover)
Because of this book, I became interested in the welfare of bats. Without it, I would not have known how to start, where to go, nor what to do. It was the springboard that launched me into a career as a bat rehabilitator. As an aside, I appreciate that the authors are confident enough in their abilities and experience to forego the use of language that could be understood only by those in the medical profession.

Captive Care for the Rehab of Insectivorous Bats,

This review is from: Captive Care and Medical Reference for the Rehabilitation of Insectivorous Bats (Hardcover)
Not only an outstanding piece of reference material but an absolute must for any individual responsible for the rehab of bats. I have had 2 veterinarians as well as my orthopedic surgeon (a bat enthusiast) review the book and all have given it raves. As another book reviewer has mentioned, it is unofficially called the 'bat bible' within the bat community. Congratulations to Lollar and French for their original work as well as this new, updated version of the bat bible.

This review is from: Captive Care and Medical Reference for the Rehabilitation of Insectivorous Bats (Hardcover)
I am a Physical therapist turned bat rehabber and the information in this book is everything you need to approprately treat and release bats. The price is perfect compared to other rehab books I have had to purchase. The Chapters get you quickly and easliy to the right page when needed and the charts contained in the back I frequently refer to. There is even a section to help find equipment. They really thought of everything!!!

The BEST BAT INFO,
This review is from: Captive Care and Medical Reference for the Rehabilitation of Insectivorous Bats (Hardcover)
This book is the BEST information out there for Bat Rehabbers, Veterinarians and scientists. As a bat rehabber i know what works for me and this book has helped me So much to be a HUMANE caregiver. Most other bat rehabbing books are very insensitive to the bat, this book is wonderful. i can't say enough about it.

A Must Have,
This review is from: Captive Care and Medical Reference for the Rehabilitation of Insectivorous Bats (Hardcover)
This book is an invaluable asset to anyone working with bats. The information included is meticulously collected, proven and thorough. It covers everything from the rescue of newborn pups to treating bats with burns, pneumonia, broken bones, etc... The book covers which medications are best to use in which conditions. Even things as simple as feeding and wrist sprains, which in bats are not simple, are covered. I have found several Veterinarians who have found the book to be helpful in the treatment of these animals. If you are working with bats or even interested in their biology and physiology this is a great book written by people who know.

Excellent Current Information,
This review is from: Captive Care and Medical Reference for the Rehabilitation of Insectivorous Bats (Hardcover)
This book is well organized, and gives current information on the care of insectivorous bats. It is easy to understand for all educational backgrounds. Not until this book, was there a well written, carefully researched book on bat rehabilitation. Every facility that houses insectivorous bats should be required to own one. All the proceeds from this book goes directly to bat rescue.
