4.0 out of 5 stars For the Hard Core S&M, B&D lover
I just finished reading this book, and althought its not the best erotica that I've read, it certainly was worth the money I spent on it. Its alot harsher, not as "fairy tale" like as other S&M novels I've read. So for those of weak heart, you've been warned. I agree with other reviews that the book has a unique ending. 3.0 out of 5 stars A Hard-core fan
Hard-core, punishment, domination, mostly whipping & spanking, a minimal variety of sex. Not very imaginative. Not enough psychological drama or information about feelings. Mostly about what was physically happening and said. OK story line, the writing was average. There was no ending.

Its abrupt, and in the true dominant style, it leaves you wanting more. The focus was on the training of the slave, and not the outcome of that training. (possible idea for new novel?) This book leaves you aching if you are one who is openminded, shocked if you are of the faint at heart.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well written, but far-fetched!, October 2, 2000
This review is from: The Captive (Paperback)
Rather than resulting in a well-trained and submissive slave, we get an unwilling participant who appears to need hospitalization rather than punishment. Extreme in the physical and not written well enough to get into the emotions (other than anger and fear) bet we really never get into the head of Caroline. Could have been a lot longer book. The ending is lame in that it leaves the reader hanging... "so what happened?" An easy read in one sitting.

2.0 out of 5 stars Where did the author go?, April 12, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Captive (Paperback)
The author spent alot of time building a beginning to a very good story line and then abandoned it before the first fifty pages were completed. The only character that I could even remotely relate to was dropped off in the first or second chapter. I kept reading in hopes that the author would follow thru, but was disappointed. This book is published proof that the publisher didn't read beyond the first fifty pages. If I were Blue Moon publishing I wouldn't have let this one get beyond my slush pile. Don't waste your money if you're after erotica with any kind of story line.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well written and .. arousing, but not convincingly realistic, April 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Captive (Paperback)
I found "The Captive" to be a decadent addition to my collection of erotica. It was very well written, making it easy to follow and become absorbed in. "The Captive" touched the submissive lurking deep in my psyche, making it very arousing to read about Caroline and her plight. I did find it hard to believe, however, that a person could physically withstand the unrealistic amount of beatings received in this story. If you enjoyed "The Captive," I highly recommend that you also treat yourself to Miranda Reigns' "CyberWebs", eroticism at it's best!

3.0 out of 5 stars the captive, February 21, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Captive (Paperback)
this was a very good book descriptively it was very arousing and suspenseful. however there is no end what so ever. the author spends all this time at the beginning of the book building up to what is going to occur and just when it is about to the story ends. It seems as though the author just gave up and published a half finished book. It would have gotten 5 stars if there was an ending because it was very seductive but unfortunetly it leaves you feeling cheated and unfulfilled

5.0 out of 5 stars Part 1 - See Captive's Journey for Part 2, January 5, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Captive (Paperback)
"Captive's Journey" picks up where "The Captive" leaves off. It is also the first part of "Sentence to Servitude". Read this book or the first half of "Sentence to Servitude" and then get "Captive's Journey". You'll find it well worth the time. "Captive's Journey" is also a good read on it's own, but you miss the initial setup chapters that show Caroline's fall into slavery.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real turn on for doms and subs alike!, March 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Captive (Paperback)
Captive is an exciting and incredibly sensual series of vignettes as you go through torture with Caroline Matrin as she learns the rules of extreme discipline. The image of the cage stays fresh in my mind. Have read it numerous times and still get a rush!
