5.0 out of 5 stars Best yet!
This was better than the first book which was great. This one still had the romance but along with a lot of action. You got to love M.J she has spunk! Jack the bounty hunter is MJ match all right. This book had never ending adventure and the pages really turned between M.J. and Jack's romance and fighting. Start with Hidden Star it is best you read these in order...

2.0 out of 5 stars Save Your Money
Captive Star, the latest book to come off the Nora Roberts assembly line, demonstrates why more is not always better. Roberts' readers would be better served if the author would cut her production in half and concentrate more on crafting high-quality, thoughtful books, instead of pounding out thoughtless, quick reads.

Usually Roberts' heroes save her novels, but not...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mirtha Star series, November 26, 2001
By
This review is from: Captive Star (The Stars of Mithra) (Mass Market Paperback)
Nora Roberts keeps getting better and better with every book I read. This star series is no exception. Each book is connected and "flows" into each other. Very similar to Sea Swept, Inner Harbor and Rising Tides. Like other Roberts trilogies, you MUST read these in order.
Hidden Star about Bailey and Cade then Captive Star about Jack and M.J and finally Secret Star about Grace and Seth. The last book in my opinion is really the best although it's a tie between the second and third books. The passion in each story grows but more than passion is the unbelievable bond between each woman and the men they fall in love with. Not to mention the bond between three friends. Like most Nora Roberts series each story has humor, romance, mystery, sex murder, kidnappings, rescuing, strength and a intellegent theme. Three stars of Mirtha has a mythogical history to it. Wonderful stories I can't say enough. Nora Roberts is a Goddess. Tell everyone you know....and read, read, read.

5.0 out of 5 stars non stop action, August 27, 2001

Although this is the 2nd book of the series, I found it better than the first {but that was also good}. For those of you who are "Eve Dallas" fans, as I am, M.J. is alot like her. As for Jack, well lets just say that is a male version. This book gave non-stop action. It gave you every bit of romance, murder, thrills, and quite a few laughs. The relationship with M.J. and Jack is not just romance, but a "I can kick your butt better"; and with that it reminds you of what they are trying to unravel. There is no better match in this series than M.J. and Jack. They can love eachother in one breath and then get to serious fighting the next {sometimes it's with eachother}. I suggest to read the first "Hidden Star" so that you can get the true back ground, even thought Roberts' does a great job of informing you if you haven't read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Entertainment, September 23, 1999

This book moves, and moves fast. It's great to read a book that keeps the action coming and the romance sizzling. Read this one and then the other two of the Star series. They are all great and tie together very interestingly. Great job Nora!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the series and the series is good, September 10, 2001

This review is from: Captive Star (The Stars of Mithra) (Mass Market Paperback)
I Love Nora Roberts. This book was not a dissapointment. In fact, of the three Star series books, this one was my favorite. I particularly liked the sparks that fly whenever Jack and MJ are together. I found that this one had the best mystery to it as well.

Although all three books can stand alone, they are much better read in order.

4.0 out of 5 stars Second in Series is lots of fun!, December 3, 2001
By
This review is from: Captive Star (The Stars of Mithra) (Mass Market Paperback)
"Captive Star" is the second book in the "Stars of Mithra" series and is a very enjoyable read. It is quite important with this trilogy to read the books in order, as each one builds on the previous one.
In this instalment we meet MJ and Jack. Jack Dakota is a bounty hunter or "skip tracer." He receives an assignment to pick up MJ and bring her in, but things are not as simple as they seem. Jack meets his match in MJ O'Leary, a feisty bar owner, and the opening scene is action-packed. But these two soon have to work together as an enormous man shows up waving a gun in their faces. MJ and Jack escape, but Jack is furious that he was set-up with phoney paperwork and dropped in the middle of this mess. To top it off, MJ isn't talking, not even when Jack discovers that she has one of the three Stars of Mithra in her purse (a huge blue diamond).
The chemistry between Jack and MJ is highly entertaining and they are both wonderful strong characters. They begin to trust each other as they realize that they are going to have to work together in order to solve this mystery and keep alive! The adventure these two share is exciting and intriguing. As they run from the killers pursuing them, Jack and MJ fall head over heels in love, and the reader is treated to some wonderfully sexy scenes.
The mystery of the Stars of Mithra is highly engaging and will draw the reader right in. Jack and MJ are both great characters and their relationship is a pleasure to follow. This book will have your pulse pounding one minute and then will have you laughing out loud the next. This fun-filled book is certainly worth the read, so sit back and enjoy!

Captive Star, the latest book to come off the Nora Roberts assembly line, demonstrates why more is not always better. Roberts' readers would be better served if the author would cut her production in half and concentrate more on crafting high-quality, thoughtful books, instead of pounding out thoughtless, quick reads.

Usually Roberts' heroes save her novels, but not in this case. Readers will be rolling their eyes as Roberts trys to make us fall for a bounty hunter with the soul of a philosopher/anthropologist/English major. As if hero Jack Dakota is not bad enough, readers are asked to accept heroine M.J. O'Leary. Not only is she cute, but she's a fifth degree black belt, owns her own bar (oh, excuse me, Pub)and acts as the place's bouncer. However, she, too, has the soul of a philosopher/anthropologis/English major. Roberts takes what could have been a cute plot and ruins it with obnoxious, over-the-top characters. Dakota and O'Leary are so annoying and unappealing that this book doesn't even succeed as a quick escape from the real world. Buy this book and you'll find yourself looking for a way to escape from it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Second part to a Trilogy, March 8, 2007
This review is from: Captive Star (The Stars of Mithra) (Mass Market Paperback)
The second installment of Mithras Series begins with Jack Dakota trying to catch bail-jumper M.J. O'Leary. Jack thinks this'll be an easy job instead M.J., think he's someone else, attacks him. I like how she was able to take care of herself. They realize they've been set up and team up to find out who. It was a very exciting read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner for Nora Roberts, October 8, 2003

This review is from: Captive Star (The Stars of Mithra) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the second in a series of three by Nora Roberts. So far the Stars of Mithra series has not been a dissapointment in the least.

M. J. O'Leary is a witty spitfire who is happy running her own business until her life is turned upside down by a bounty hunter named Jack Dakota. Jack has been sent to catch M.J. who is supposedly a bail jumper. He soon discovers this isn't the case, but that discovery only brings to light more questions instead of answering them.

M.J. and Jack only have each other to rely on as they try and deciper the mystery, but in order to do it they have to learn to trust each other. This leads to a whirlwind romance and a very suspenseful story. One I am sure you will enjoy, as I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good story, October 28, 2002

I liked this one, though not as much as the first in the series. MJ and Jack were definitely a great match. There is a lot of action in this one, and a ton of sparks between MJ and Jack. They rarely stop their bantering, and when they do, then they have fireworks of a different kind. The plot on this one is a little far fetched, but none of the plots in this trilogy are very realistic. This is escape reading at its best!
