A tasty read,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Captivity of Celia (Blue Moon) (Paperback)
M. S. Valentine has proven herself a mistress of the genre with this exhilarating offering. Told in the tradition of the gothic novels of years past, she weaves a thrilling tale of innocent Celia, who sets off to "rescue" her lover Colin, who has been given refuge by his cousin, the debached Sir Jason. In fact, the only way she can secure his safety is to offer herself as a sexual sacrifice to Jason. The novel chronicles her descent into a sexual whirlpool of Jason's twisted desires, and her subsequent self discovery as she comes to crave what he offers. The Captivity of Celia left me breathless. It is truly a contemporary masterpiece of erotic literature.

Delectable, captivating erotica!,
This review is from: The Captivity of Celia (Blue Moon) (Paperback)
I couldn't put this erotic delight down. I hadn't read M.S. Valentine until now and I shall definitely give her other books a whirl. The Captivity of Celia is one of the richest, most erotic novels I have recently read. The story of Celia's forceful submission enthralled me from beginning to end. All Celia wants to do is protect her boyfriend Colin after he is falsely accused of murder. The only way to keep him safe is to seek refuge from Colin's cousin, the very rogue Sir Jason Hardwicke. Jason is willing to protect Colin, but there is a catch: Celia has to succumb to Jason's unconventional, depraved sexual needs. What follows is one sensual, delectable, albeit quite dark scene after another. It gets especially interesting when a battle between the cousins over Celia ensues...
Sir Jason is one of the most interesting characters I have read in this genre. He is both sensual and unscrupulous. He's a darker version of Captain Alexei from Natasha Rostova's The Captivation and just as ruthless as Lucas from Sedalia Johnson's The Pleasure's Daughter. The brand of domination and submission in this novel is excellent. There is mind control as well as some physical dominance. The one thing I don't like about this novel is that Celia is a little too willing to sacrifice for her lover. She hardly puts up a fight. I would have liked a little more resistance on her part. Anyway, this is a great erotic novel. Blue Moon has taken precedence over Black Lace in my bookshelf recently. The latest Black Lace books have been quite disappointing. They're not how they used to be. I never thought I'd like Blue Moon books so much. And this is one of the best BM books I've read. As said earlier, M.S. Valentine is a great author and I look forward to reading more of her stuff. In fact, I can't wait to pick up The Possession of Celia, the follow-up to this one. In the meantime, I recommend that you pick up this gem.

SHALLOW, BORING, AND UNREALISTIC,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Captivity of Celia (Blue Moon) (Paperback)
I have recently discovered the wonderful world of erotic fiction. I bought this book based on its rave reviews, yet I couldn't have been more disappointed. I only gave it two stars because it started off hot. I expected a readable story, but there is no real plot, it's just one sex scene after another. To me, sex is fine.. the dirtier the better, but there was no story for me to grab onto. First of all, Colin is a coward for watching his so-called beloved Celia being used and humiliated over and over again. Any real man would have killed in his woman's defense. Celia's unbelievable character is weak and pathetic, and Sir Jason is just plain malicious. I was already bored, but completely lost interest when reading about how Celia's female classmates would fight to sniff her underwear and bed sheets. I stopped at that point and skipped straight to the end, hoping that Colin would have finally grown a pair, and was disappointed at that as well. Don't waste your time or money on this piece of garbage.

DESTINED TO BE AN EROTIC CLASSIC!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Captivity of Celia (Paperback)
VALENTINE EXCELS IN CRAFTING A FINELY WRITTEN PIECE OF EROTIC WRITING, WITH COMPELLING CHARACTERS AND IMAGINATIVE SEXUAL SITUATIONS. THIS IS NO ORDINARY EROTICA BOOK, BUT ONE THAT SHOULD TAKE ITS PLACE ALONGSIDE THE CLASSIC WRITERS OF BOTH THE VICTORIAN AGE AND CONTEMPORARY.

The appealing characters of Sir Jason, Colin and Celia reside in the remote Yorkshire Moors, where the two men (both cousins) compete for the beautiful Celia, who has been made Sir Jason's captive. Yet this captive soon begins to ensnare the man who has done his utmost to control her every desire and a battle begins between the cousins as Celia realizes that she loves and desires both men.

Meticulously explicit,

This review is from: The Captivity of Celia (Blue Moon) (Paperback)
If you like a story where 95% of the pages shows a succession of sexual performances, then this is the book you're looking for. It is really not for the faint of heart. I'm far from hypocrite and like erotic novels, romantic stories, etc but it was excessive. It's like mixing too much sugar in a cake... And you're are unable to root for the protagonists... With this volume I had bought the continuation, "The Possession of Celia". I will read it, of course after other books I have already started. Who knows Celia will finally meet her soul mate, with satisfying sex...yes!! and why not with love, self-respect and real tenderness in the baggage?
