From the Back Cover

She was the most irresistible treasure of all . . .

Dominic LeVeq, the most notorious privateer ever to command the high seas, has just captured a coveted prize: a British frigate. On a dangerous mission against the Crown, Dominic should be thinking only of his ship's safety. But the rebel captain is utterly entranced by Clare Sullivan, the stunning slave on board. Consumed by desire, desperate to have her, Dominic offers Clare her freedom in exchange for a forbidden night in his bed—a night he assures her will be most pleasureable indeed.

Clare believes that Dominic is nothing more than a seductive rogue used to getting what he wants. But she too feels a tantalizing passion between them, and so she submits to just one night of bliss. She'll soon realize that Dominic has captured more than her body. He's captured her heart . . . and she doesn't want him to ever let go.

Beverly Jenkins new release, Captured, has completely capitivated my heart. This book is a thrill a minute and I am still riding high after having read it. In this book Ms. Jenkins returns us to the House of LeVeq. Only this time, she takes us where it all began. The book starts off with a bang when Clare is captured by the pirate, Dominic LeVeq. Ms. Jenkins is one of the best writers I have read and especially when it comes to her ability to make you feel like you are actually experiencing what is happening in her books. She is very descriptive of everything: the period, the clothes, the ships, life on the ship, the life of a slave, and all those personalities. And sometimes, it can be ever so subtle, but you get the point. The scenes read like a movie, they are so visual. And let's not forget about Clare and Dominic. I absolutely adored their love story. If you are looking for a book that has history, romance, adventure, action, and/or suspense, this book has it all. Ms. Jenkins has done it again, another hit!!!

Dominic LeVeq a lovechild of a Frenchman and a slave. When Dominic's father dies his half brother Eduard and his stepmom conspired to cheat him out of his inheritance. Eduard wants to take all his father's workers and make them slaves, but Dominic can't have that he steals Ed's boat and races to save the 300 workers.

While Dominic has started a new life his main mission in life is to rescue as many slaves as possible. He and his crew take over a British frigate. On board he finds a beautiful slave by the name of Clare Sullivan. He steals Clare from her owners and take her to his Free Cuban island. Clare doesn't want to be free, because her children are still enslaved in Savannah.

Dominic makes Clare love him and soon she wants to stay, but not without her children and that's where the action begins. This was one of Beverly Jenkins' best books, you get a great history lesson, action, and romance. Great job Ms. Jenkins

I've shied away from reading Black romance novels for a while now because something seemed lacking to me (definitely not the sex, that was abundant in spades). I'm Black, so it's disappointing when you want to read a real novel about people you can relate to. What was missing for me was a strong plot and well developed characters. It's a shame I hadn't stumbled upon Beverly Jenkins' work earlier. I love historical fiction, it's my favorite genre in literature. So to be able to enjoy a well-written and researched historical plot involving rich characters and detailed descriptions of the beauty of the caribbean islands was a treat. The eroticism was still there, but in a tasteful way that did not overpower the entire story or use really awkward or even crude descriptive words. You'll fall in love with the handsome and fearless Dominic, the beautiful and intelligent Clare, Gaspar, Esteban, Anna, Sarah, Ben and the others because...that's exactly what you're supposed to do when you're reading a great book: fall in love with the characters!

Along with everyone else, I love . . . love Beverly Jenkins's historical novels and this is the best one yet. The charecters pull you in from the first page and they are written with such depth and emotional that you really want to see how they manage to attain their HEA. This is a masterful story. I loved every minute of it. And ditto the comment where Dominic tells Clare 'I want to kiss you until the sun turns into the moon,' comment. ****SWOON*******

Dominic LeVeq, pirate captain of the Marie sails the seas looking for treasures and slave ships, when he comes upon a frigate with slave, Clare Sullivan aboard. Dominic is a take no prisoners pirate but is taken with Clare and although she puts up a fight, he must have her. Who would't want to be captured by this pirate?

On Dominic's island, Liberte, Clara finds herself enjoying her freedom and time with Dominic and the other islanders (freed slaves); however, she wants to return to her children in Savannah who are still in slavery. Of course, Dominic offers his help.

Along with an enjoyable group of characters and more history of the race, we also get a romantic story from the hands of the master/mistress Storyteller of Historicals, Beverly Jenkins.

Dominic LeVeq is the illegitimate son of Antoine LeVeq by his slave mistress. He's also a pirate that scours the high seas on missions to abort slavery voyages. It is while on one of his many missions sailing The Marie, that he happens upon a British ship and kidnaps a female slave, the beautiful and enigmatic Claire Sullivan.

The magnetism that emanates between this couple is palpable yet questionable with their future. Claire would love to have the freedom that Dominic offers her, yet she has two very important reasons to return to her old deplorable life with the mean and selfish Mistress Violet Sullivan. Dominiq has an ulterior motive while enticing Claire with promises and stolen yet memorable trysts at Treasure Island where there is nothing but freedom, friendship, and love for all of the islanders.

Ms. Jenkins has once again enamored her readers with another enchanting and fascinating novel with the most charismatic characters. Captured captivates you from the first page as the suave Dominiq is introduced as he rides to the meeting with his father's scheming wife and son. This novel encompasses a romantic love story revolving around a pirate and a slave. It also educates the reader with research information about a land called Treasure Island, a land of freedom for the African slaves and their strength, courage and intelligence. It also provides insight to the captured slaves and their plights as well as their practices while en route to a foreign land of indignities. I have yet to read a Beverly Jenkins' novel that I've not felt like I've learned something that I never knew. She dares to take the readers to places we never imagined for our ancestors and she enlarges them into the super heroes that history fails to provide us with in our schools.
