5.0 out of 5 stars If all Peggy Darty's books are like this one then I need to read more of them!, January 3, 2011
This review is from: The Captured Bride of Aspenwood (Paperback)
Back Cover: Raised in an orphanage where she learned to back the most delicious cakes in Colorado, delicately lovely Elizabeth Blake was grateful for the chance to put her skills to use during the tourist season at a fine hotel in Cripple Creek. But when she learned that she would be staying at Aspenwood Abbey, a frightening place, built into the mountains and surrounded by dark forests of spruce and pine, her worries began. The wind howled around the eaves, and strange scratchings at her door warned her that odd doings were afoot. Never had Elizabeth felt so alone. Even the protective embrace of the sleek-haired, golden-eyed master of Aspenwood couldn't allay her fears, for nothing was as it seemed in the snowbound, windswept abbey... nothing except the certainty that she had been chosen as the next victim of the ancient Aspenwood curse, and must fight for her life.. before she lost her heart.

Even though Elizabeth is regarded as "kitchen help" and is supposed to stay away from him, she still seems to find her way into Mallon Williams heart. I liked it that when Mallon made advances on Elizabeth she acted like a normal woman would act. She didn't let him take advantage of her, she stood her ground and told him no. He wasn't aggressive about it and when she turns him down he doesn't get upset. Which is nice. I really liked the story and I plan on reading more of Peggy Darty's books.
