Dennis Finocchiaro is the mastermind behind Capturing a Moment, a collection of vintage photographs with flash fiction typed onto them using an antique typewriter. He has been writing
flash fiction and short stories for years, but the idea came to him while hanging out in the apartment of a graphic designer friend. She had used hers for a post card project, and he started brainstorming a way his could come into use and he could bring back some small sliver of the past.
And so Capturing a Moment was born. He took out hundreds of photographs and piled up the images with enough white to fit a story.
After that he took each image and wrote a few sentences for each, then
crossed out some words, added others, and finally decided on the
story. The typewriter was the tricky part; after all, nobody has typing skills that fit in with the old, rigid keyboard of the old
machine. Excepting a few mistakes, Dennis was able to come up with
some fun and fantastic stories.
The images in Capturing a Moment do just what they promise; they take
a snapshot of a second in time and put words to it that run the gamut of literary genres. Humor takes over some of the images, but of course, as with all black and white photographs that have stood the test of time, some encapsulate the feeling of death. The combination of comedy and tragedy are part of what makes Capturing a Moment such a success.
He is also the author of The Z Word, a collection of short stories
that take place during the zombie apocalypse and posts other work on

Dennis Finocchiaro is a Philadelphia-based author who enjoys writing a variety of genres. His first book, The Z Word, is a collection of flash fiction stories that take place during a zombie apocalypse. The stories focus on the human beings and their reason for striving to survive rather than the usual gore and blood of the everyday zombie book.
His next collection, Capturing a Moment, is a unique collection of his flash fiction stories typed onto vintage photographs using an antique typewriter. The stories range from funny to sad, running the full range of genres.
Dennis also writes children's literature in ebook format. He works together with talented artists and sees his stories come to life through their illustrations. In A Day in the Dumps, a little boy's favorite toy ends up in the trash, so he and his mother go on a quest in an attempt to get it back, only to learn about the importance of recycling. In The Princess of the Land of Black, Princess Onyx goes on a journey to see what the world outside her castle is like, where she discovers all kinds of new things. In Mo, a monster on another planet learns how to overcome being bullied.
Dennis enjoys people watching, typewriters, writing in public, yard saling, and, above all, writing.
