There's something about Bob Baer, the ex-CIA agent played by George Clooney in 'Syriana,' that makes you trust that he's telling you like it is. I suspect the people he talked to for this film felt the same way, as he manages to get them to open up and let us in on their secrets in a way that is really quite shocking. I can't imagine having the cojones to go to Naples and asking at the street market if I could get a meeting with the Mafia and actually pulling it off. Or driving a taxi around Beirut and picking up real passengers so as to avoid detection as a spy.

As he did in his 'Cult of the Suicide Bomber' films, Baer makes you feel like you just attended an in-person CIA briefing. Highly Recommended.

This show really is just shocking. And it puts the whole idea of car bombing into perspective. It's been one of the most effective and destructive weapons of terror in the last one hundred years. It was invented in the united states but has since gone on to cause terror and havoc around the world. Bob b. the ex cia agent does a fantastic job of telling the car bombs history and it's uses in various conflicts and acts of terror. I didn't know that the IRa used thousands of them and that the car bomb eventually lead to a peace agreement!. This even includes the use of the car bomb by criminal organizations . but it doesn't cover clevelands carbomb war of the 70's for some reason. If you want a good overview of that watch 'kill the irishman'. The dvd looks great and uses alot of vintage footage. This is a important documentary and everyone who is interested in the world of terror that we inhabit should check this out.

From its inception on Wall Street in 1920, to Palestine, Lebanon, Northern Ireland, and beyond, narrator and ex-CIA agent Bob Baer presents the bloody history of the car bomb. Baer is a bit of a stiff as far as narrators go, but the information provided is both frightening and intriguing. The overall message to the viewer is that car bombs are easy to make, relatively inexpensive, and perhaps the most effective terrorist weapon available to anyone. Curiously, however, I kept getting the impression that the film was almost promoting the creation of car bombs through the information that was provided in various interviews - While they didn't give an exact formula for creating them, they continually listed the rudimentary elements that go into making car bombs, and they even included a pre-internet way to research the process. It was a bit strange... But then again, this film is distributed by the Disiformation Company, a seemingly leftist radical organization... so who knows?

This is an interesting informative DVD. It covers the history of VBIED's and all of the major attacks. It had some interesting points about Iran. I personally found it interesting, but it would probably put a lot of people asleep.

Yet another well prepared informational video by Robert Baer. I highly recommend this to law enforcement officers. I often show his videos as a good source of information on the related topic.
