4.0 out of 5 stars better than any I've seen, still not perfected
The transmitter allows you to choose from many channels, which allows for at least one good choice. The volume on the player has to be maxed out, and then the volume on the car receiver has to be at least 50% to hear it good. You cannot skip many tracks at a time (only 1 at a time), which is very annoying since I have at least 250 songs on the device. The remote has to...

The player does resume where you left off. It's not perfect, but I haven't seen anything better out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Performance from Thumb or SD!, October 12, 2008

Wow! I'm impressed. This little gadget is economical, not cheap. A friend bought one on my recommendation and says the performance using the analog audio input jack is marginal. He and I agree, however, that the performance using a thumb drive or an SD card is terrific!

I've just ordered six more, some for gift giving and a couple that I will use inside my house - after I buy the parts and build the 12 Volt adapters (later today).

Note that I strongly prefer the SD card for media. The card fits within the physical profile of the device whereas a thumb drive protrudes and might get bumped, resulting in damage to the drive and/or the player.

It works as advertised!. Sounds great on my car stereo, I put a Kingston 2gb USB fully loaded of music.
Only I can't find a "shuffle" feature, it plays music in orderd manner. Still searching if exists this feature.

It does not transmit in stereo, so playback quality is much like playing a 1950's radio at best.
I have VR3 one earlier, that was much better.

OK, so the quality and craftsmanship is not the best you've ever seen and no, it's not exactly a Sony - but so what? For the cost of a fast food meal this gives you some outstanding flexibility in Car Audio. The very idea of being able to play MP3 files from an SD card (plugged into your cig lighter) is outrageously clever and it works.

I've used this with a few MP3 players and as an SD Card standalone player. The sound quality is limited mostly by your own pre-installed equipment, and in finding the best possible frequency to sync up on. I covered the cost on this by sacrificing a few visits to Starbucks during my first week of ownership.

This is not for people with a critical ear, and yes it is something of a novelty, as others have said; but it works as advertised and is indeed a very fun "toy". Though I'd love to see a reputable electronics giant's version of this, I'll tip my hat to whoever came up with the idea itself.

Hi,
I bought this mp3-fm transmitter to use it in my old truck from 2004 that could play only CDs. I read some bad reviews about it, but I wanted to give it a try. I was so pleased with it! It's been more than 6 months since I've had it, using it daily at least 30 min while driving. I was not disappointed at all.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as shown, November 23, 2010

I ordered this FM Transmitter - which costs about twice as much as some of the other, VERY similar units on Amazon, because it's remote has 7 buttons per the pictures.
I figured I can work a 7 button remote w/o looking at it.
The one I got has TWENTY ONE buttons on the remote!! Not what I want. Can't even tell which way is 'up' on it w/o looking rather closely. Not what I want to have to do when driving.
I've contacted the seller and asked to exchange it. I haven't even tired using it.

It also did not come with instructions or a spare fuse.

This one (the one I got anyway) does have a 3.5mm input jack, which is a standard size (the reviews say most others have 2.5mm).

Edit: I've now used the transmitter a bit. It WORKS! CH = FM frequency. It stays on the freq and restarts the last song playing when restarted. It works with a 4Gb SDHC card. Stopping the car under power lines effects the sound quality.
The seller offered to exchange it, but then said they don't have any of the 7 button units left. Most of the 'extra' buttons are #s (including 100 and 200) to select individual songs. But I don't know how the songs are assigned numbers. Even when I figure out the numbering, I'm not going to remember the #s of 200+ songs, so really not very useful!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price, October 19, 2010

The unit arrived without instructions. I wrote the supplier to get them. They were very short and did not add to what I already could figure out on my own. The unit itself gives surprisingly good sound for the price. I used it solely with an SD card. It took some adjusting to get a clear sound. I set the units volume to 20 out of 30 and then adjusted my car radio to the desired volume. If I set the unit's volume higher I got a bit of a tinny sound, much lower got some static on the radio. Sound quality is much like a CD burned from mp3's. Very easy to just plug into the cigarette lighter and remove and hide when not in use.

3.0 out of 5 stars Only for USB and SD cards NOT mp3 players and not very user friendly, May 23, 2010
This review is from: In Car MP3 FM Transmitter for SD USB Pen Drive w/Remote (Electronics)
The sound quality is very poor if you are connecting a mp3 player. But is good for SD cards and USB's.
The connector is not very good so a slight touch will restart the transmitter and then you again have to set the frequency. It would have been great if the transmitter could retain the frequency setting on restart.
You cant use the mp3 player so using an SD card to an Mp3 player makes it difficult as it goes back to the start of your playlist after every restart of the transmitter. So even for stopping the car at a gas station, you have to listen the songs from the start or manually go to the selected song.

i do not even have a chance to use it because this device only "on" for 10 sec on the first song of my USB and this device just shut off and never able to on it again, fuse is good. so the only reason is this device have some hardware problem. do not even think of return this to the seller as you will need to pay for some misc fee and shipping handle fee too, do not worth it for this price. better to get a good device rather than having this bad experience and waste of money.
