This thing distorts your view (items in mirror are further than viewed) but really, do you use the rear view mirror to gauge distance or to tell what is behind you. I would not trade this thing in for the world. I have a full size Astro Van and I see every single seat, every single window! It is like having your side/rear view mirrors up front. I always double check anyway, but this thing is great.

It does have a few other area I must complain about..The mirrors on the side are really ugly and slightly distracting and the back of the mirror is clear and plastic-E (ugh). It really bothered me walking to my car and seeing th eback of this thing. I painted it black with interior paint and it is almost unnoticable.

As said before it is a good buy for a descent price!

You can see the entire back windshield with this mirror, as well as just outside on both the left and right hand sides, so that proper adjustment will effectvely eliminate the blindspots you get on either side of your car from the original rearview and side wing mirrors. It definitiely adds a level of safety, security and confidence when driving. If you start to use this, you will wonder how you ever got by without one.

these mirrors really help my hubs eliminate the blind spot.

Love the auxillary mirrors but dont like that they can bend only backwards.

I would have liked it to bend a little forward too.

I recently bought an F-350 Crewcab. The stock mirror that came with it is so small it's a joke. So I started looking for a bigger mirror and stumbled on this one. Oh! Before I bought this one I bought one off the shelf over at PepBoys and it was a total piece of junk. The mirror surface was paint (not glass) and it was not even smooth. It was also a blue color. It looked like you were looking through an aquarium. The Car Mate PL111A is much better. The mirrors are real glass and provide a good clear image. The quality of the build seems good as well. I would have given it a five star rating except for three reasons.

1. The center mirror does not cover my whole back window in my crewcab pickup. It might just be me and the way my eyes work, but I like to see the whole outline of my rear window. It gives me visual cues from which to judge the distance an location of the car behind me. As big as this mirror is, I still cannot see both side edges of my rear cab window at the same time. If you consider that my truck is a crewcab and the rear window is a lot further back then it would be in a single cab pickup, you might guess that it would not be very good at all in a single cab pickup.

2. The side mirrors are nice, but they cannot be brought all the way forward so that they are flat with the center mirror. So you can't use them to extend the reach of the center mirror to cover your whole rear window. They are intended to be used to look out your rear seat passenger windows and they work okay (I guess) for that.

3. There are thick plastic borders around the mirrors. This is okay, except, for where the center mirror and the side mirrors come together. It is doubly thick where the mirrors meet and this is confusing when you glance at the mirror because of the way my brain works. This large divide between the different mirrors, causes a visual separation of the images. The result is that you have to focus on each mirror interdependently to tell what is going on.

Bottom line. I have a different accessory mirror in my car that is very slightly warped and it covers the whole rear window and some of the side windows of my 2005 Impala. I put it in my truck and I really like it. Unfortunately, I bought it off the clearance rack at Wal-mart some time ago and it does not have a brand name on it anywhere so I can't buy another one like it. I will keep this PL111A, for now, but I am on the look out for a better accessory mirror for my truck.

The mirror installed easily. It's large enough to see well, However the wing mirrors would be more effective if the right wing could see the left side and left side to the right as they only adjust back making the right side wing not very effective.

This rear view mirror has been a lifesaver for me, and I am SO glad that I purchased it! I have severe back problems, and it's getting harder & harder to turn around to see if anything is behind my car before backing up, and it's even harder when I happen to be wearing my full back brace. While I don't rely 100% on this rear view mirror to show me everything going on behind my car, it has made it so that I don't have to turn around as much or to the full degree that I had to before purchasing this mirror. I highly recommend it to anyone that has back problems that make it difficult for them to turn around to view the entire back area of their vehicle.
