Good for cloth seats only!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Car Seat Undermat (Toy)
I bought this mat for my car with leather seats and it made the car seat slide around, no matter how tight I made the seatbelt. If you have leather seats, do not use this mat. Use a thick, rubber mat instead. Not only will this keep your car seat in place, it will protect your leather from indentations from the weight of the car seat. I actually use both now, I put the rubber mat on the seat and then I put this cloth one on top because it has handy pockets.

Doesn't Work Well,
By Kiera's Mom (Houston, Texas) - See all my reviews

I bought two of these undermats and wish I had not. They do not "grip" our cars leather seats and cause the infant car seats to slide a bit. We had our car seats inspected and the police officers doing the inspection said not to use these liners. They advised us the us to use shelf liner. I instead purchased the Prince Lionheart undermat that has the same sort of soft tacky feel as the recommened shelf liner. It works the same and is more attractive.

Great on our leather seats -,

We used this product under our Graco infant carrier car seat base and it worked wonderfully. Not only did the police officer who checked our installation not tell us not to use, he said it was one of the coolest things he'd ever seen. After he showed me how to really get that base in tight, the seat didn't move it all. I think we could have lubed the seat with WD40 and it wouldn't have slid around. At first I thought the coolest thing about it was the mesh container that hangs in front of the seat - a great place to stash used bottles, diapers, etc., but when we recently took the base out to install the next size car seat, we saw a bunch of caked on spit-up and other nastiness that never made it onto the leather, thanks to the under mat! Those having problems may just need to put a little more oomph behind their car seat installation.

Do not use this product!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Car Seat Undermat (Toy)
This is an after market product and has NOT been crash tested. It could cause your child's seat to fail in a crash and seriously injure the child or worse. I am a tech and we remove these when people bring in a seat with one to a clinic. If it doesn't come with your seat DO NOT use it without first consulting a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician who is trained in car seats.

be careful if you have leather interior!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Car Seat Undermat (Toy)
I registered and received this mat as a shower gift. I took it with me when I got my car seat installed by a certified installer and he warned me that it was unsafe with leather seats becuase the vinyl would just make the surface very "slippery" for the car seat. He suggested that I get a mat with something other than nylon, like rubber - something that would grip to the leather.

All bunched up,
By Marlene Instinski (Nashville, TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Car Seat Undermat (Toy)
This was a nice idea and I thought it would be great for protecting the car seat and also hold toys, bottles, etc. However, like several reviewers have already noted, it just doesn't like to stay put. We have fabric seats and this undermat is just too flimsy to stay put. It is always bunched up underneath the car seat. I try tugging it out, but to no avail. When I went to a safety inspector to test my car seat, they pulled this out and instead placed a cheap rubber shelf liner underneath! Protects the seat and is sticky enough to keep the car seat from sliding around. That's what I suggest you do instead of buying this.

Do not use -- safety for your child comes first!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Car Seat Undermat (Toy)
Although I have nothing against this product, I too went to get my car safety inspected by the California Highway Patrol and was advised not to use any after-marketing accessories. This product has not been crash testing and I did find that the car seat had less "grip" with the seats and more "give". He advised me to use grip lining (typically used for shelves) and I purchased a color to match the interior.

Doesn't Mesh Well,
By A Customer
This review is from: Car Seat Undermat (Toy)
I am a huge fan of Sassy so naturally I didn't hesitate in choosing their car seat undermat. So far - the mat is durable but the 3 mesh storage pockets have detached and unfortunately have become one useless storage pocket. The three "light" items that I stored included wipes, tiny stuffed animal and a small book. Contact was rarely made with these pockets including removing and returning the stored items, so.....either the lack of durability is due to quality or just bad luck. I am in the process of looking for a replacement.

Love this item!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Car Seat Undermat (Toy)
I use this undermat for both my children's car seats. I first bought it when my toddler was born, and liked it so much I bought another one for my second child. My toddler now climbs into her car seat by herself and steps on the edge of this undermat instead of my leather seat. I love the mesh pockets in the front for emergency extras--empty bottle, diapers, and a small blanket. A car seat safety inspector did not say anything negative about it. She had no problem securing the car seat tightly with this mat underneath. If you install your car seat properly, it won't slide.

Don't Use - Damaged My Seat,
By DTG "dissatisfied customer" (VA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Car Seat Undermat (Toy)
I purchased the mat for my leather seat, and used it for about 3 months. It appeared to be working fine, but when I went to remove the mat from my car, was I in for a rude awakening.... My leather seat was completely damaged (with hundreds and hundreds of indented black spots that resulted from the bottom side of the mat. I just received a quote stating that the repairs could cost me up to $2000. I definitely recommend against this, and would give it 0 stars if I could.
