Book Description

Product Description:

Amazon Top 100 Bestselling Romantic Comedy and Humorous Mystery Author D. D. Scott is back...this time, with Book 3 in her Cozy Cash Mystery Series – CARATS AND COCONUTS.

Think Will and Kate gone Bond, James Bond in the gem smuggling world of Brazil's Amazon Rainforest...with the help of Grams, who now has a Queen of Crabby Maxine fixation.

Book Description:

There’s crazy.

Then there’s a cut above crazy.

And when your parents are two of the world’s top gemologists, you not only learn to deal with cuts – brilliant, baguette, briolette and the list goes on - but you also get damn good at dealin’ with the crazies that those cuts bring into your life. And by crazies, think the smugglers and thieves who transport gems around the globe.

So yeah, as you can imagine, Zoey Witherspoon’s life has been anything but Mayberry. And she doesn’t see that changing anytime soon.

As a Designer and Stylist to The Stars, a fairly new PI, and now the Princess of Caserta, she’s got one crazy-packed resume. As if that’s not enough, she’s also the daughter of George and Suzie Witherspoon of Witherspoon & Witherspoon, the world’s premiere gem vault and lapidary.

The world can’t responsibly deal with the kinds of wealth her parents cut from rocks. The gem trade breeds its own kind of terror. And Zoey’s about to put an end to it...or at least the part of it she knows how to stop. Unless the smugglers stop her first.

Bonus Content Included:

In case you missed D. D.’s Cozy Cash Mystery Christmas Novella - HULLABALOO AND HOLLY TOO - which gives you a superfab fun set-up to CARATS AND COCONUTS – or missed A CUT ABOVE CRAZY (the prequel to CARATS AND COCONUTS)...no worries...’cause they’re both included!

2.0 out of 5 stars C & C January 26, 2013

Sketchy, light-weight, no real plot or story line followed, had to make myself finish it. I would not recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Thank goodness this book was only 99 cents! August 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I couldn't make it through a third of the book before finally giving up. I read 4 hours a day ( long train commute to work) and am willing to read just about anything, but this book was so silly and boring I just couldn't waste another moment of my time. I've read other stories by this author and found them to be amusing, but this was so silly and contrived I could not get into it at all...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, Fun Read! March 30, 2012

I really enjoyed this book, as I have all of D.D. Scott's books. She's a great storyteller.......fun, interesting, witty, descriptive, some mysterious, some sexy, quick reads! What more could you want? Roman & Zoe are in the rainforest in this one, trying to protect her family's mines, plus Grams is SO funny! The story has an interesting twist with "Stanley," a former employee of Zoe's parents. It's a good, quick read! I'm looking forward to the next one in this series!

3.0 out of 5 stars Sadly Mediocre March 25, 2012
By Belly
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'd give it 3 1/2 if half stars were an option!

These Cosy Cash Mysteries are all only what i'd call `alright', they're not deep and meaningful by any means, just a pleasant lightly humorous read.

This one, i'd have to say, is not one of the better ones of the series.
Its better than The Mum Squad short stioies, but not as good as the Bootskootin' ones and probably the, i don't want to say -worst- but least good of the Cosy Cash's. (These series all loosely tie together) but i digress...

I guess as a means to keep the mystery going, D D never gives out more than a sliver of ~The Problem~ at a time. That strategy really didn't do anything to help this book along. In fact it crawls along at a snail's pace. Zoe keeps hinting at some major life threatening detail she's not telling Roman about, in order to keep him safe. Calling it `Life Threatening' might be artistic licence in the extreme. It wasn't worth winding half a book around, that's for sure. Even now that i've had a chance to think about it, i'm wondering if i've missed something along the line.

In this one Zoe, Prince Roman , `R' (their version of Q), Grams and Roman's Mafia infested parents are all headed down to the Brazilian Rainforest to bust up a gem smuggling ring. You may recall that as well as being Santa & Mrs Clause, Mr & Mrs Witherspoon are astonishingly talented Gemmologists. One of their elves has gone bad and is stealing from them.

As I already mentioned, the story crawls along, there's no bang, there are no exciting turns of event, it just starts, trudges along and ends. It was all just very flat.

Its only cheep, it's worth buying for a couple of bucks, especially if you like the series. But don't expect big things.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love D.D. Scott September 29, 2013

This could be read as a stand alone but would make more sense if you read the previous Cozy Cash Mysteries. I love the characters and their quirkiness. The premise might seem a little weird but the book is definitely worth a read.
