Biography

Robin Trower is the UK-born blues/rock guitarist and former front man with Procol Harum.

Trower played guitar for a number of bands, the best known of which was The Paramounts, before he came to fame with the UK prog-rock band Procol Harum. i have all the robin trower cds available and this is the NO DOUBT BEST!!! i saw trower a couple of times at his height but never had either one of these records. the 1st/ caravan to midnite is fantastic. the opening track/my love rocks and is catchy. if you slip down the cd to roads to freedom/jack and jill are phenominal. freedom is great lyrically and heavy guitar. a very memorable cd next/ the victims of the fury cd the title track plods with henrixy sounds only time shows his power of loops and hooks/ all of this is good but the last track/ into the flames will blow u away!!!!!!!!!! this is the dirtiest flat get down blues rock song ive ever heard/ anyway/ this cd will stay in your player for a long time and will freak out friends old or young/ could only rate up to 5 but spirals into number 13 going up to me

the 1st/

5.0 out of 5 stars Overlooked Masterpieces, October 18, 2001

When most people mention Robin Trower they think of his early work (Bridge Of Sighs) etc... but don't let these two Trower gems slip by your appreciation for him and his band. Caravan To Midnight (released in'78) is probably my favorite of the two. If you have some time to sit down and relax for a brief period of time, this is the release to choose. James Dewars voice has never sounded better.Cuts like Birthday Boy, King Of The Dance
and My Love(Burning Love) are truly gorgeous pieces of music.Trowers band is tight and the production values are top notch on every cut.The same goes for Victims Of The Fury. This release rocks a little more than Caravan, but it's true Trower at his finest. My favorite cuts on Victims are Jack And Jill and
The Shout. Growing up in a small town in the late 70's all you heard was Queen, Rush, Aerosmith etc.. I am truly pleased that I discovered these two fine pieces of music and I still listen to both of them to this day. Crank up your stereo and strap yourself in for some of Trowers most unappreciated work available.Music like this never ages, it just seems to get better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great way to expand your Trower collection, November 19, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Caravan to Midnight/Victims of the Fury (Audio CD)
IF you are a Trower fan and have "Essential Robin Trower" , this two album on one CD is a great way to broaden your Trower exposure. It has both sides of Trower music: the blusey passion of Caravan to Midnight and the hot rocks of Victims of the Fury. Although Victims of the Fury is the only song from this two album compilation found on Essential Robin Trower, there is much prime music here that could have extended the Essential disc from 16 to 21 or more tracks. It's one of my favorite discs and better buys. There are 19 total tracks.
