This album is TOTALLY COOL!!! Generally, there are two kinds of albums found in the World music genre: one is the more traditional type of World album, pure original, traditional sounds from various countries throughout the world. That type of album is not my favorite; once in awhile I like a pure sound like that, but generally I like a beat in my music. The other major type of album in the World music scene is what is generally called World Beat, which is typically traditional sounds of various places, most often the Middle East or Africa, mixed with "Western" dance beats. So it's like samples or flavors of the Middle East or Africa put over an essentially Western-constructed song. Most of the World music in my collection is of this style, and I really enjoy it.
What makes Digital Bled so different is that this album has quite a few songs with a great dancing beat, but that beat is NOT Western; not only are the sounds Middle Eastern, but the beats are also Middle Eastern or somewhere not "Western." This makes dancing to these songs immense fun! Something truly fresh and exciting! The greatest songs for dancing on this album are "Encantadore," "Cairo Bar," and "Fonkarabic." What a joy to dance to!
A number of the tracks are not something that pull you to your feet and dance, but they would still be classified as World Beat, not traditional world music. The sound is heavily Middle Eastern but I think there are other world influences on here too.
The only drawback of the album is that some of the songs get a bit too monotonous and go on for too long; if that were not the case, this would be a 5-star album. But that's a very minor complaint. This is a unique, notable album, one that any World Beat fan should have in their collection.

I have quite a collection of belly dance music from Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, as well as Turkish popular and Armenian. This CD is a valuable addition to a dancers collection. The music is moody, sensitive and romantic. It is not overdone, but simple and well executed. Many of pieces are highly suitable for veil dancing. It is also good mood music for relaxing and a quiet romantic evening.
