Excellent presentation of naratives and photos of M1 carbine components to help new collector determine origin of components used in his carbine.

A must for even the casual collector of M1 Carbines. Well researched, easy to follow. The clear drawings and illustration are a great supplement to the descriptions. Written in simple non technical language.

This book is an all inclusive guide to collecting M1 carbines. The detail is superb and offers many tips on what to look for and what to avoid. Recommend this to anyone who is serious about collecting wartime munitions.

Here is an excellent resource for the M1 carbine collector, firearms collector, reenactor or military historian. The first section covers the history and development of the weapon and the remaining chapters detail production, covering the various makers, their proofmarks, dates of production and so forth. With this book a carbine owner can identify every aspect and component of one's firearm. One can also use this reference to assemble an M1 carbine that properly represents a weapon of a specific time period. If you are interested in M1 Carbines, this book should be in your firearms library!

may be his best effort yet on this subject.enjoyed the pictures.could use more information on the odd ball stuff that the average buyer will never see[t-3,expirmentals, various proto types] and a little more history after WW11. still a great book.

I already had the book on the Springfield 1903 from this series. Both a M1 Garand and a M1 Carbine are planned future purchases. And am I glad I ordered this book (and the one on the M1 Garand) before making any purchases! The reason? There have been some crooked folks that have done some sneaky things and passed them off as authentic for lack of a better term. Some are fraudulent and others downright dangerous. Had I not read this book I would have had no idea that this was a potential risk.

I realized when adding this book and its M1 Garand counterpart that this series is really not a historical narritive on these weapons per se. Yes, there is historical background but these seem to be more guides for those that collect and/or restore these weapons. In that role they seem to provide an outstanding resource for documenting the production of the M1 carbine. And that is significant. This was a wartime weapon and many suppliers were involved with its production. It is a good resource for the restorer and will help a buyer avoid getting scammed. And the author does indentify areas where authenticity isn't documented.

If an individual is only intersted in history this book may not be the best choice. If you are planning a purchase, do yourself a huge favor and order this book. Read it and bring it with you when you are looking at potential offerings. It can not only help you from being scammed but can also help you avoid buying a weapon that could be dangerous to fire.

This is a great book!!! This book has taught me a lot about the M1 Carbine and helped me identify all of the parts on my 2 carbines. I would recommend this book to anyone that is starting out with carbines, or wants another point of reference for information.

Love this book. It is very detailed about the variations of M1 carbines produced. I have used it on numerous occasions to identify parts and dates of manufacture.

Read cover to cover first night I received it. Refer to it at least 3-4 times a week. Has answered the majority of my questions relating to the carbine.

Borrowed this book from a friend and was so happy bought one myself. Well worth the money for a Carbine buyer/collector.
