5.0 out of 5 stars excellent quality
My teenage son has a collection of various items, including US Military items. He loves history, and loves to collect different things from around the world. This particular Japanese Naginata Yari Sword was an excellent buy! Excellent quality at an excellent price. It's a great feeling when you make a purchase and you feel like you get more than your money's worth...

1.0 out of 5 stars Sucks.
Shipped quick. Quality shows. Looks like they shipped the stick that they used to get things off the top shelf. Cracks everywhere. sheath broken open opening. Blade is alright and not rusted. Decorations aren't bad. Never doing business with them again.

This particular Japanese Naginata Yari Sword was an excellent buy! Excellent quality at an excellent price. It's a great feeling when you make a purchase and you feel like you get more than your money's worth. As a mom, too, I am concerned about safety. The sword is called "sharpened", but it is not razor sharp when I'd worry about accidental injury.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY impressed!, March 19, 2011

The Naginata yari that I purchased from this vendor exceeded any expectations that I originally held. First of all, the shipment was delivered THREE DAYS after I placed the order- and I clicked the standard shipping method! Second; the packaging. The Naginata arrived separated from the staff, which were both cushioned separately in thier own styrofoam casing which held them firmly in place. Third; the attention to detail was amazing! Immediately I noticed that the brass fittings did indeed have cherryblossoms stamped into the metal, and around the ring which acts as the crossguard for the sword/spear, there are butterflies in flight. Rather poetic. The handle is made of some type of wood, I think it was listed as ash wood- but nonetheless it holds up beautifully. The staff is easy to remove, but holds firmly in place when attached in spear form. Bonus. And the blade itself is another marvel entirely... This blade is seriously almost two feet! And the design of the blade is fantastic, all curved and menacing.
The blade is not sharpened, but could do serious damage due to the weight alone! One thing I did notice (rather insignificant might I add) is at the base of the blade it says CHINA. It is written rather small but it IS there, and I had to get really picky to find THAT drawback- the ONLY one. Overall the weapon is not only very pleasing aesthetically, but looks and feels battle-ready; almost as if you could take down a rider at full charge! A MUST buy!

Pretty nice item. A little shorter than I would like. Good blade. The Saya arrived with a broken tip which I glued back on. I doubt that it would hold up long in heavy use but it makes a nice decorator.

The blade came a day early and over all is very good. Weary parents can relax, the blade is not sharp at all. Also don't go nuts on branches or anything, the blade will bend, so display only or non contact demonstration. I tested it on a cardboard box, and the box won. You can bend it back but best not test your luck. Its not a master piece but for the price it exceeded my expectations.
