Short Version:
Pros: Great for starting siphons, or for keeping your carboy sealed in storage.
Cons: Takes a lot of force to get my racking cane through the cap, there's a lip on the inside that really fights it. If this were tapered a bit it would be 5 stars.

I got this for 2 reasons.
1. Starting siphons manually while still being sterile is a tedious process so I wanted this to eliminate the need for priming the tube with boiled then cooled water getting started, plugging it, moving it over to the destination. (really the boiling/cooling is the part that takes forever, especially when you don't like to plan ahead like me)
2. As a cap to put on my carboy when not in use to keep any nasties from getting inside.

How did it do?
1. the racking cane took A LOT of coaxing to get through the hole on this cap, but it did make it. I popped the cap on the carboy, it fit kinda snug on the first lip of the cap, and I now know that would have worked, but I opted to jam it on all the way, which made a very tight seal, but again took coaxing. After all that work I was nervous whether the siphon would actually start by blowing in the other tube. It did not disappoint, it started with very little effort, much much easier.

Today, I was racking some hard cider between 1 gallon jugs, which this cap is not designed for, but seeing how well it did I figured I would be able to just hold it over top the jug, make a seal, and start the siphon. I didn't get a very good seal, I heard blowing out when I blew in to get the siphon started, but it went anyway, again very little effort.

So aside from being quite difficult to get the racking cane through, this was a home run.

I use for air locks and racking and capping in general for the 6.5 gallon carboys. I prefer this to rubber stoppers because of the versatility and easy of use.
