This review is from: Card Games That Were Almost Lost: Discover a Slice of Afro American Culture (Hardcover)
The novel ALMOST LOST tells the story of a troubled teenage boy who is battling to keep the relationship he has with his mother. Sammy goes through many trials including running away from home, getting involved in a gang, and even resorting to drugs and alcohol. As you read dialogue from his therapy tapes, you follow him through each struggle he encounters. This sad, but inspiring, story allows the reader to know exaclty what he thinks and talks about with his therapist. This true story conatains interesting and informative advice from Sammy's therapist as, together, they try to work out each aspect of his life and piece it back together as it once was when he was a young and joyous little boy. Any teen or young adult would enjoy reading this book because of the suspense you are left with while Sammy tries to figure out how he will ever mend the bond that was broken between he and his mother.
