And The Hilarity Insues..., March 19, 2001
This review is from: Cardcaptor Sakura #2 (Paperback)
Always read lighthearted manga with a friend...case and point. The first novel was above average and CLAMP was able to move away from the collection + cute = pokemon stereotype. The second novel includes several 'adult themes' the largest of which are the developing relationships between Sakura and Tomoyo...it is quite sudden and much like the sailor Uranus and Neptune relation...except without Sakura's knowledge. "I love you Sakura" "I love you too Tomoyo..." *Sakura walks away* "No, I mean I LOVE you Sakura" The newest character, Li, develops a gender defying relationship with Yuki...once again without Sakura or Yuki's knowledge...I think this will have a deeper (non sexual) meaning later in the novels. Anyway, its light hearted manga goodness from those what brought you the Magic Knights Rayearth.

I've enjoyed what I've read so far, June 1, 2004
This review is from: Cardcaptor Sakura #2 (Paperback)
Okay, so I resisted reading this because all I could think of when I heard the title was "cutesy kiddy cartoon." It's bad to judge something when you don't know much about it. The artwork in this manga is amazingly detailed. In this book, Sakura takes part in field day, deals with a few Clow cards (I'm still trying to figure those out, so I'm looking forward to getting ahold of the first book), and meets Li (a boy who doesn't seem to like her at all). There's a lot about Sakura's relationships with other people, particuarly her friends and Yuki, a guy she likes. Incidentally, Li also seems to like Yuki. This book deals a lot with "who likes who," which I'm guessing is the same for the whole series. I'm looking forward to reading some more.

I think that this manga was actually traslated very well. Most of them are the original names of the caracters. Exepet Toya and Yoki(those r there nicknames in the original). In this Sakura's school is having a feild day and it is like a family thing. So Sakura's dad and brother show up a long with Toyomo's mother. So when Toyomo's mother and Sakura's father meet they instently recogonize eachother. Toyomo and Sakura find out that their mother's are cousins (so that makes them what? 2nd cousins?). But, Sakura's mother is dead and Toyomo's mother blames it on Saura's father. She is still really mad at him for taking away her little cousin and callenges him to one of the races. But in the middle of the race flower petals start coming from nowhere. It seems like it's raing flowers! The flower petals get so thick it's hard to breath. Sakura sences a clow card! What will happen? Were are the flowers coming from? What happened to Sakura's father and Toyomo's mother? Order the book and find out! Along with this episode there are 2 others in this book. Clamp's ideas are real original and interesting! You'll be making the wrong choice if you do not buy this! It's really bright and a whole lot brighter than most mangas! And it really brightens up your day(I like the word bright! Can you tell?)! But warning once you start the series you have to finish!
