5.0 out of 5 stars Ending the first season with a Bang!, March 2, 2002
By

While it is beyond me that Amazon skipped the 8th volume for the time being, I'll focus my attention to this 9 volume, which is the last disc of the 1st season and the halfway point of the show. It only has three episodes on it, but don't fret, because they're good ones.

*Sakura goes ice skating! What seems to be an innocent school trip turns into an instant freezer when the freeze card show up and begans Sakura's classmates. It's bad enough Sakura can't skate that well yet...

*Sakura, Yukito, and the Midday Moon! Tomoeda sponsers a city wide scavenger hunt. Tomoyo would rather tape Sakura on her way to victory, so she get's to be paired up with Yukito! Much to Shaoran's dismay I might add. Things start off great without any clow cards to ruin the day, then Sakura notices the full moon and takes a plunge into trouble!

*It's Christmas! It's Yukito's Birthday?! What should Sakura get him? Something handmade or bought? The two end up going to an amusement park followed secretly by Tomoyo and the others. Will Sakura's relationship with Yukito heat up? Wait a second, that's the third element card, Firey! More powerful than any of the cards she has collected so far, the Firey card threatens to burn the park down if something isn't done fast!!!

The season draws to a close with a sweet eye catching ending, also taking the series into a darker mood. T-minus 3 discs until the judgement ceremony. See you on the next disc, RELEASE!

5.0 out of 5 stars This series has so much--action, sweet moment, mystery., June 30, 2002

(REAL NAME)
Cardcaptors is what pulled me into Anime. My daughter played Pokemon & I enjoyed the adventures of Team Rocket, but I happened to see Yue standing there, wings & all &, loving angels, I had to watch more. Cardcaptor Sakura is so much better than the butchered version we were given here in the U.S. as Cardcaptors. The story gives us a sweet view of a loving family as well as action, adventure, mystery & humor. In this edition we are already getting clues to the 2nd season climax with Yue, Ms. Mitsuki & the Tokyo Tower. Cardcaptors was so heavily cut & pasted together while Cardcaptor Sakura is nicely paced out over about 70 eps. In English we kept hearing how the Judge had to be impartial, yet Yukito always seems to give Sakura the clue she needs to solve the problem & capture the card, so it is interesting to see uncut those eps. How much more does Toya know than he's letting on? The big brother bits are sooo sweet, & how much does he know about Yukito? Ms. Mitsuki & Toya were involved in the past, Tomoya & Sakura are related through their mothers--there's a whole lot more at work in the original version.
The monthly manga just made it past the judgement & would be enjoyable to all those who love this show. Kero calling Yukito a boy toy is worth (the money).

5.0 out of 5 stars KAWAII!!!! kawaii! kawaii! kawaii! ect., April 13, 2003
A Kid's Review
Okay, now that I got that out of me, this is kawaii. I mean, I know that all of this series is, but I have to say it again. Acctually, I've seen a lot of anime, and their dubs, but this remains my favorite. For those who are not sure about trying an original anime, Cardcaptor Sakura will give you a boost. Anyway, this dvd starts off with "SAkura's Freezing Ice Skating" where Shaorans crush on Sakura blossoms. Of coarse, it's mild here, but it's pretty cute. The card is freeze, (duh) which turns a skating lesson into a crash coarse. This did make the dub, however, the dub's missing a couple of scenes. Next is an episode which, I think, is cute. Sakura is informed about a town quiz and decides to enter. Since partners are needed, she enters with Yukito, naturally. They get to the last question and things get kinda freaky.Because of the Japanese writting in this one, it wasn,t included in the dub. Third is the last episode of the first season, with FIREY. This is one of the most brutally cut-up episodes there are. Sakura's supposed to have been trying to get Yukito to go to the amusement park with her, it wasn't accidental. Not to mention the absence of Shaoran and Tomoyo's homo-sexuality. All in all, this is a great ending to the first season of this wonderfull series. I strongly encourage everyone to take a look.
