5.0 out of 5 stars Dubs aren't always evil!!!
Yes, I know what the dub did to this series. But the Fiery Card and the Twin card episodes (prolly the best episodes of the whole first season btw) were dubbed really well, and dare I say it, somehoe these two I think were dubbed , written better than the sub (and I've seen both.) The sub seemed slightly less dramatic, or it gave a few things away too soon.

3.0 out of 5 stars Always Thought Subbed Was Better
Cardcaptors HAD great potential. It still could have appealed to America's hearts (and money) with its uncut Japanese episodes. Still, the American distributor had to butcher Cardcaptor Sakura up and change it to the general Cardcaptors. While Sakura IS the only Cardcaptor (sorry folks, Li isn't really a Cardcaptor). 1.0 out of 5 stars Nelvana Bakas...(baka is a jap word), November 29, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Cardcaptors - Best of Friends (Vol. 6) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
OK, ahheeeemmm Cardcaptors really might've had potential. I thought it was one of the best series on KidsWB.(NOTE: this was before I knew about Cardcaptor Sakura) But then I got the first videos of Cardcaptor Sakura...You would not believe how many parts of episodes and WHOLE episodes they cut out! KidWb only showed about 25 episodes, but there are suppose to be over 70 episodes. They bunched like 5 episodes into one at times and showed flashbacks to make up for some missing parts which were very screwed up. I dont even want to think how they'll release the movies later on... And how unbelievably BRATTY sounding the cardcaptor characters are. They sound like teenagers, ahem sakura and everyone is supposed to be TEN(or eleven) years old when the series starts, NOT FOURTEEN. The only characters that fits their voice are probably Sakura's dad and her brother. They messed up the plot and basically killed all potential, they refering to Nelvana >_<. AND they literally OBLIDERATED the relationship between Sakura and Li(Syaoran)! And WHAT IS WITH changing Li's voice in the MIDDLE of the series and then Nikki/Noako later on!! Character are randomly carrying around items and doing things without proper explanation. They even cut out the funniest scenes. Sakura's friends are basically COMPLETELY cut out. The watery card is sakura's THIRD capture not one of her last. Eriol is made way more evil than in CCS and Spinner's voice is scary. Spinner's original name in CCS is Spinel! What's wrong with it?! WHat kind of name is Spinner??? And Li ISNT suppose to come in the first few episodes. Nelvana doesnt show any Japanese characters(writing) which is really saying something about how stupid they think we are not to know when a scene is repeated FIVE times over the only changes with different words! WHAT IS WRONG WITH NELVANA is what i'd really like to know! I could go on forever ranting and raving about it but I'm running out of space...^_^

1.0 out of 5 stars Why is she catching the Water card NOW?, April 25, 2004
It doesn't make any sense to me eather. In the Japanizee version she catches the water card in the 3ird episode, firery in the last episode in the first season. In the US version its visa-virsa, firery then watery when she uses the water card to catch firery.

ACKKKKKKKKKKK! THE PEOPLE WHO MADE THE DUBBED VIRSION DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING!!!! AND THEY EDITED OUT ABOUT 85% OF CARDCAPTOR SAKURA!!! THEY TURNED A MASTERPICE INTO CRAP, JUST LIKE WHAT THEY DID TO SAILOR MOON BUT THIS IS WORSTE!!!!

......But I still kinda like the US version, because you don't have to read subtitles.(and the background music and Kero's voice too....)(BUT EVERY THING ELSE IS TERRIBLE!!! THEY TOOK OUT WAY TO MANY DETIALS ABOUT THE STORY!!!! AND TONS OF WONDERFUL EPISODES!!!! AND INFORMATION ON SAKURA'S FAMILY!!!!)

Ok Cardcaptors and Cardcaptor sakura are to complety different things. So if you like ccs then buy orignal uncut version. There are so many edits and cuts in this what a shame.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's OK,but it has some work to do, June 2, 2002

This vol. is messed up.The capture of the Watery card was one of the first episodes. Then when Meilin leaves Readington AMAZON left out the capture of the Twin card.Plus this episode is one of the last. Then comes Earth which is a Two episode show, plus the second episode of the Earth card brings to the beginning of the Final Jugdement. In the Watery episode Sakura must choose 2 out of 3 cards that she first captures to capture Watery.Quiet a good plan.Next was the Twin card where Meilin leaves. She thinks she wasn't wanted since Li always made it hard for her and never said how prode he was of her.Final the Earth card. In this episode(s) everthing starts to revele it self. All of the episodes are good but they need to be in order and AMAZON should tell you about the Twin card and if the beginning of the Final Jugdement is there as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars The last two episodes are great from this Volume, March 1, 2002
By A Customer
I like the last two episodes from this volume. The first one is really episode 3 in CCS. They shouldn't have put this episode near the end of capturing all the cards. The first episode is Sakura going to the aquarium. The 2nd episode is about Meilin leaving Readington. The 3rd episode is the beginning of the Earth card. I didn't like the idea of Sakura standing really still at the end of the first episode. It just didn't make sense. I also didn't like the part before Sakura and Julian was ordering Ice Cream from Tori. They were starring at the aquarium and ordering dessert. I don't get it. The last 2 episodes make up for the first one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible- but that's expected, March 11, 2002
By
This review is from: Cardcaptors - Best of Friends (Vol. 6) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This series is a 'dub' of the original series, Cardcaptor Sakura. Dub, when translated for Nelvana, means cut out all mentions of relationships, try to make Syaoran a main character, make Sakura sound 16- something, and have the characters try to explain to you all that you miss. If you want to buy this, I suggest you go spend you money on the uncut version, starting with 'The Clow'. It's a MUCH better deal, and you will get the entire plot, not just senseless card catching and 15 minute episodes.

Ahem. As stated above, don't but it. Even though it hasn't come out yet, it is provived that this tape is crap. How do I know? Simple, all off Cardcaptors is crap, and second we've seen it on TV. (OoOoOh, look at the shiny red button on my VCR labeled REC!) Please just go buy the original, Cardcaptor Sakura. Thank you. *bows and runs off*
