5.0 out of 5 stars And the cards keep coming!
Not to be missed, this fills in the remaing gaps on what all happened _before_ Li arrived!

First up, in Episode 5, Sakura discovers that the Jump card has invaded a young shop owners wares! Worse, it pulls them altogether to form a..well..I don't want to spoil it.

Next, the Illusion card is playing with kids minds in the woods, going so far as to try and off...

1.0 out of 5 stars sub is better
(from the anime crazed daughter) CardCaptors has been edited way too much! The episodes aren't in the right order, leaving the viewer confused. Each ep. has about 5 mins. of deleted scenes that aren't really bad. They tried to make Syaoran/Li the main charater to make it for guy and girls show. But you can't do that with out totally messing up the show. Not once did...

Not to be missed, this fills in the remaing gaps on what all happened _before_ Li arrived!

First up, in Episode 5, Sakura discovers that the Jump card has invaded a young shop owners wares! Worse, it pulls them altogether to form a..well..I don't want to spoil it.

Next, the Illusion card is playing with kids minds in the woods, going so far as to try and off Sakura with an image of her late mother! This one has a real tearjerker ending, folks! (And this is coming from a 23 year old male! My mom gave me defective genes, I swear!)

For the third ep., a young child is upset at an art museum for apparently altering a painting of him done by his father. Actually it's just been "occupied" by the Silent card, which really doesn't like noise... Also, Li actually makes his first appearance in this episode, in a very brief cameo.

Finally, we have the Episode the Dub starts with, Li's arrival at Sakura's school and rather brusque request for the cards collected so far, as well as the activities of the Thunder card...

So once again, if you're an addict, grab it! Bring on the third one!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Review for the "Uncut" version, July 8, 2004
(What the?...why is Amazon.com mixing up the reviews with that Cardcaptors Dvd 'Power match' with the uncut(and very differnt) version of Cardcaptor sakura. Yes, they both are Cardcaptor sakura but ones the 'Uncut version' and the highly edited 'Dub' and they both contain totally differnt episodes. Get it right Amazon!)

This is my review for the uncut version.(Five stars)
This contains episodes 5-9 of 'Cardcaptor Sakura'
In these episodes she captures 'Jump card', 'Illisuon card', 'Silent card', and the 'Thunder card'
All the episodes on here are wonderful! My favorite is the Silent card episode, its funny when they are trying to be as quiet as they can, but they keep going back outside due to the Silent card. I also love on how she captues it in the end!

It would be easier to be able to get my hands on all of the Cardcaptor Sakura DVDs if they where cheaper in price ($30 avrage price(everywere) for each DVD with only 4 uncut episodes? That outrageous! I can't afford that!)
Even though the price is rediculous, its well worth it when you get it!

Heres a review for 'Cardcaptors: Power match' (Two stars)
This is the version that has been drasicly edited for kids. This must be the most edited Anime in the US(even more edited than 'Sailor moon', and thats pretty bad...)
But they did such a wonderful job at changeing it into something new! Now Tomido(Madison) is one of the ignoed charaters(in Japan they had a doll and one of the main charaters other than Sakura) as Meling(Melin) is now one of the Cardcaptors (SHE WAS NEVER A CARDCAPTOR IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!)
They totally changed everything(even the music/personaitys/episodes....)
I bet if you take out the 'today on Cardcaptors', all of the flashbacks, commercals, and 'the card we reveal today' you will have only 10 to 14 minutes of actual fotage of the real episode that has been dubbed(depending on how many flashback there is in an episode)

Thats why I gave it two stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sakura's Adventures Continue, January 21, 2002
The second volume in the Cardcaptor Sakura series, Everlasting Memories, contains episodes 5 through 8 continuing the story of ten-year old Sakura as she searches for the scattered Clow cards, a magical Tarot-like deck where each card centers around a specific power or talent. Not to be confused with the Warner Brother's Cardcaptors cartoon series, this DVD is the original, uncut Japanese release with English subtitles, the way Japanese anime should be viewed and enjoyed.

Backed by a beautiful musical soundtrack, the stories include a toy shop with possessed plush animals, a Clow card masquerading as Sakura's late mother, a Clow card inhabiting a picture in the local art gallery and the appearance of a rival who has his own plans for the Clow cards.

Parents should be aware that there is a PG-13 rating on the DVD because the need to watch subtitles requires good reading and comprehension skills. There is also some mild profanity.

One benefit to the Cardcaptor Sakura series seldom mentioned is its capability as an attractive adjunct to any Japanese language program. My three sons have already picked up some Japanese idioms and words pronounced correctly. An enterprising writer could profit by writing and publishing a companion study guide to Japanese language and culture using the Cardcaptor Sakura series as its focus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Continue as you've started., September 17, 2002
EVERLASTING MEMORIES is the second DVD in the series Cardcaptor Sakura and picks up right where the first one left off. Sakura is just as cute as ever and the Cards are still up to their usual mischief - it's time for the Cardcaptor to show that she means business!

From unruly cards taking over stuffed animals (and making things very difficult for one very nice shop owner) to a card that hijacked a painting (and doesn't like noise), Sakura's got her work cut out for her in this DVD. Sometimes the challenges seem a little too big - is that a card or the ghost of Sakura's mother? And if it's Sakura's mother, why does she keep leading her daughter into danger? What is Sakura going to do about this rival of hers, Li Shaolan?

No fear though, as Sakura is just as bright and cheerful as ever! Her solutions will leave you smiling - and sometimes crying - as she goes about doing things in a way that's distinctly Sakura. With the introduction of Li, things become slightly more complicated - but it also offers a wonderful insight into the relationships surrounding the characters, especially Touya and Sakura's and Li and Yukito's.

These DVDs leave you thinking that there is no way the next one could top it - and yet, you find yourself quite happily surprised. A show that leaves you smiling is always worth the money you pay for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Nelvana, oh, no! Far better indeed..., March 1, 2001
The CCS series, so slaughtered in America, continues it's uncut, subtitled glory on DVD! It contains four episodes, including an introduction to a new character- Syaoran Li! These episodes are just as cute as the four on the first DVD. Sure took a long time to come out, or at least that's how it feels. Anyway, you can't go wrong with this if your a fan of shoujo anime! This is better than Nelvana's garbage by a long shot. You can't even tell it's the same show! Forget Cardcaptors, go CardCaptor Sakura!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another delightful volume!, December 15, 2000

Jess (Nashua, NH United States) - See all my reviews
Cardcaptor Sakura continues to be perhaps the most charming show I have ever seen in this volume. The characters are explored more (the development is very well done, particularly in episode 6), the plot thickens with the arrival of Shaolan, the humor is very cute, and the animation, acting and music all continue to be top notch. This is far, far better than any of that "Cardcaptors" junk you'll see on TV. All in all, this is a great volume.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definition of perfection, December 27, 2000

"ume-chan" (Hong Kong, China) - See all my reviews
Card Captor Sakura is one of the most beautifully drawn anime ever to grace Japan. As soon as I heard about it's debut in America, I thought 'finally!'. And then the big disappointment. I don't know what Nelvana did to the lovely anime and I'm pretty sure I don't want to know of the horror, but when WB introduced me to the brand new show by the name of "Cardcaptors", I was completely shocked. The terribly sung theme song, the voices that were far from coming close to being like the original, and the totally confusing story line was just impossible to watch. To see the original, un-cut CCS is like watching a whole different anime. A beautiful, cute, one-of-a-kind anime. I promise you, you won't be disappointed with this video tape. And once you see the true version of CCS, you'll never even glance once at the dubbed one. So, if you're a "Cardcaptors" fan, please buy this wonderful tape so you can see what wonderfulness you're missing out on. Trust me, it's worth it. It really, truely is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent - you won't be dissapointed, December 10, 2005
This review is from: Cardcaptors: V.2 Power Match (ep. 4-6) (DVD)
I'm sure many people would assume that this series wouldn't be that great because it's the American version, but it suprisingly is great. The voices are excellent - no 20 year old woman playing Sakura who's supposed to be a CHILD or any of that. Now... I've looked at some of the other posts. The names may seem a little "unoriginal" and such, but they don't affect anything about this great series. Also, you cannot compare Inuyasha with this series. Inuyasha is very overrated and dragged out. Clamp has done an excellent job on the manga, and Pioneer has done a great job with the anime. Plus, anyone can enjoy it - whether you're a boy or girl. Don't let Sakura's frilly outfits fool you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cardcaptors!, May 30, 2003
This is video is so cool! I really mean it! The only thing is this. I dont know why Nelvana cut off some parts on Cardcaptors! Its horrible but this video is sweet! OK now, there must be a perfectly logical explanation why I like this? Well, these are my favorites videos! Thats for sure. This is what its about.
Powers Ploy: Sakura's class goes on a field trip to the zoo. But theres one single problem. The Power card! Almost everything is going wrong. As Sakura found the Power card, she had to do one thing. She has to play tug-o-war and see who wins. Will Sakura win?
The New Rival: There is a new student named Meilin Rae! Guess what? Thats one of Li's family members! Later on a card shows up named the Fight! Meilin uses her technique skills and fights the Fight card. Meilin was a strong person but she couldnt handle it anymore till Li showed up...
Double-Edged Sword: Sakura and her friends Madison and Rita went to the store after school and buyed some necklaces. Then when they went to Sakura's house, all of a sudden the necklace Rita bought was actually a card! Its called the Sword. Now the Sword took control of Rita. Sakura had to do something to capture the Sword card and make everything back to normal. But the only thing is she doesnt want to hurt Rita. So, Sakura took her key, said the words and finally she used the Illusion. After that she captured it.
These episodes are the bomb!:) This is worth your money. I think so.

They also cut out the the little crush that Sakura and Syoaran have on Yukito/Julian. In my opion I think that it's rather cute. The voice actors [are bad], they make 'em sound WAY too old. Yukito and Touya/Tori (man does Tori sound like a girls name) are supposed to be really, REALLY close friends (some say that they're more then that) and 99% of the time you don't see one without the other. In the dub they barly seem like friends. Then Kero-chan lost all of his cuteness, in the Japanese Kero-chan has a cute voice with a osaka ben (accent) not a New Yorkish one that makes him sound like he's 30.
