Many people have bashed this disc because it's the TV version and the plot strays from the original. It's true, this is not the same as the uncut format. Many people have bashed this disc because it's the TV version and the plot strays from the original. It's true, this is not the same as the uncut format. However, they sell the uncut version of Cardcaptors on DVD seperatley. This is completely seperate. It should be noted that they had to make two seperate sets of discs only because this version of Cardcaptors is edited.

Cardcaptors is the US Version of CardCaptor Sakura, as seen on Kids WB and now Cartoon Network (for a short time). This version is in English, while the uncut DVDs are Japanese with subtitles. I bought both versions because I like to see the original, and I liked the version on TV. The dubbing is done by The Ocean Group (Gundam Wing, Outlaw Star, Big O, Saber J Marionettes) and is done very well. Some voices you might recognize are Madison (the same as Lime from Saber J and Meifon from Angel Links) and Sakura's Brother (the same as Zechs from Gundam Wing). I also think that one of the voices of Melfina from Outlaw Star is in here as Li's girlfriend (staring in Episode 6) but I can't be certain on that. Personally I like anime dubbed and Cardcaptors is a refreshing break from ... dubs done for other series (see Escaflowne).

So if you like Anime and want to see the original, THIS IS NOT THE DISC FOR YOU. However if you saw Cardcaptors on TV and liked what you saw, I would recommend this disc. Either version, on its own, is fine for anyone of any age, however smaller children would most definetley appreciate the characters speaking in a language they can understand.

Do not be swayed by anime purists who say this version is horrible, judge for yourself.

1.0 out of 5 stars don't follow the dub!, August 24, 2001
This show was once a wonderful thing. It was funny, magical, and the age group didn't matter! But when this show became dubbed, the wonderful world of Cardcaptor Sakura changed. A little crush had to be completly changed, a cute couple were suddntly "cousins", and love became fear. The great parts of this anime were changed! Then on to name changes: Sure, Sakura's name was still the same, but now it was pronounced Sa-coora, or Sa-kera. Then Tomoyo="Madison", Touya= "Tori", Yukito= "Julian" and there are so many other name changes that i couldn't end this. The dubb made so many pointless changes. Even the setting of the story! This dubb is terreble...whenever a good anime is dubbed, it gets a bad reputation and no one thinks about how the dubb is messed up. Why does the name "Cardcaptor Sakura" have to be changed to "Card Captors"? She is the main character, anyway. The dubb doesn't even show all the episodes and just cuts one up to have a huge flashback--they are really just making more work for themselves. Stop the dubb!

i love cardcaptor sakura not cardcaptors. This would be good if it was uncut but it isn't. Uncut dubbing is the way to go. I don't have this ive seen it on tv. I did not like the edited version. When i heard about cardcaptor sakura i was so excited that i could buy the uncut version.

4.0 out of 5 stars Personaly... This was kawaii!, September 8, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Cardcaptors: V.3 Misdirections (ep. 7-9) (DVD)
I thought this was nice. I like the dub, in a dubby-dub way. Dont bash this one, it was good! It featured the mirror, the dash, and the maze card. ^^' It was when Kaho first showed up.

It starts with the Mirror Card. Sakura's 'twin' starts doing things that make her friends worried for her. She then gets blamed for it by everyone, even her friends! Kero then teachers her a way to use the cards differently(Like tarrot reading!!!) Later the card lures Tori to where he falls off a cliff, literally! Soon with the help of Li she seals the card.

Then tries to seal the dash card, but Jessie(rei), her friend who runs in track competetions, takes it in as a stray kitten. It gives her speed and Sakura doesn't seal it because she is starting to win. When Li comes in the picture to make her seal the card she does, but he see's she didn't seal it because of Jessie. Then in the end Jessie uses the memory of Hopy(What she named the dash card) and wins the running competetion. (Cute SS/SL moments)

Then theres the Maze card. In the beggining it starts with a new math teacher that Li tells Sakura he is suspisiose of her. Later they get caught in a Maze while tring to get some sort of charm braclets. Madison, Mei-Ling, Sakura, and Li are in the maze together. Sakura said they should split up but Li told her "Lets do this together"(SS/SL moment!!!) so they do. Finding it imposible to get out they try everything. Finnaly the maze acts up and Mei-Lin ends up upside down somewhere else in the maze. While Sakura, Li, and Madison try to get her down they lose her. Then they see Kaho(I cant recall her english name) and Mei-Lin. Kaho shows them how to get out but by then the shop they where going to is closed. Kaho then gives them two charms. (Aww, how nices!)

This movie, along with all the other dubbed versions of Cardcaptors Sakura, is a rip off. Unless you are on a serious budget or are giving this to a person you loathe, do not buy this. Buy the Sub. version. It is not that hard to read the subtitles.

1.0 out of 5 stars Even Small Children Hate It!, August 1, 2001

Mederu (Forbidden Isle, Team Globe Islands) - See all my reviews
Ok, once and for all, this is a horrible version of the original! The few episdoes of the original that have been dubbed are missing at least 6 minutes of original footage in some of them and have also been mixed around so that they order by the originals numbering: 8, 12, 3, 15, etc. They cut out 30 eps from the original one and left many plotlines hanging and untied. I have a bunch of younger cousins who I purchased this version for because of the original containing swears and homosexuality, but after watching they began to ask me questions all about why this and how come that and I decided it might have been better if they had seen the original.

It also upset me because the dubbers of this anime thus far have done excellent jobs on everything else they have dubbed, i.e. Outlaw Star, Big O, Saber J Marionettes and Gundam Wing. (Although I must note, for Gundam Wing, that is a friend's opinion: I've never liked Gundam much myself.)

If you are a person who doesn't mind the fact that threads of plots are not resolved and cannot deal with homosexuality and swearing: get this. If you plan on giving it to a child who is 7 or younger, go right ahead. Otherwise, go for the sub.

Again with the annoying Kids WB version. The least they could do is add Kero's Corner in the DVD (like how they broadcasted the Nelvana version here in Canada). The extras is one pathetic character summary. I said it before, I'll say it again... the subtitled version may not be as great compared to other DVD titles, but its definitely worth the few more dollars to this load of blashpemous crap.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mirror, The Maze, and The Dash!, September 16, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cardcaptors: V.3 Misdirections (ep. 7-9) (DVD)
These are episodes 25, 26, and 30 of Cardcaptors, the Nelvana dub of Cardcaptor Sakura. They did dub all 70, unfortunately, only 39 were shown on Kids WB (3 of those episodes being 2 combined into one episode, and a clip show that never existed using scenes from Unlocking The Key). Maybe someday, I hope, Nelvana will release all 70 of the dubbed episodes, in order, that'd be great.

Anyways, on to the review. This contains some of my favorite episodes. So, I will give a little look into the plots...

1. Double Take
There's a girl causing all kinds of mischief around town, and she looks identical to Sakura! When the mysterious girl passes by Sakura and Madison, she senses something strange from it. Kero shows Sakura a different way to use the Clow Cards, trying to identify the card they need to capture and what it's after. Tori runs into the card, and she leads him to fall off a cliff! As Sakura tries to come to the rescue, they run into Li, who also knew it was a card. Will Sakura be able to figure out what card is it?

2. No Way Out
Reedington Elementary has a new Math Teacher, Ms. Mackenzie. Li doesn't trust her, he feels there's something strange about her. There are these amulets that are supposedly suppose to give good luck, and Sakura and Meilin want to get their hands on it! So as they go to the stand to get them (Sakura and Madison, and Meilin who dragged Li along), something strange happens. They get trapped inside a maze! Will they be able to find their way out?

3. The Race
One night, Sakura and Meilin were out to capture the Dash. Sakura manages to injure it, but they almost get caught and so they have to hide. They decide to capture it later. However, a girl from their school, Jesse, who is on the track team, thinks it's a stray cat and takes it in. The Dash bestows upon Jesse great speed. Sakura sees how it's helping out Jesse, and hesitates to capture it.

This was a great set of episodes! I really loved the maze card one. I like when Li took Sakura's hand and said "Let's do this together" and Meilin looks all jealous, LOL! This is an excellent buy, and alot of fun to watch, I highly recommend it!
