5.0 out of 5 stars great album, September 11, 2000

This review is from: Cardiac Party (Audio CD)
What most people forget to mention except one is that Max Gronenthal is the best singer since sliced bread. He's in the same catagory as Richard Page from Mister Mister etc... If it wasn't for him it would not sound the same. Where can we get more of his singing and has Max Carl(Max Gronenthal) and the Big Dance available through Amazon? Buy the album, it's essential.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN OLD FREIND RETURNS, August 11, 2000
By
Monte R. Stringer (Richardson, TX. United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cardiac Party (Audio CD)
After I purchased this in 1982, I had the good fortune to copy it on cassetes and pass it along to countless friends from Boston to California. The last few years I have only played it to record another cassette, replacing the last one I wore out. When I found the CD, the first copy was sent to my son away at college. Now the process starts again, both to all my old friends and I suspect, to my sons friends too. After 30 years and 1000's of recordings, it remains in my top 10. A classic R&B sound that spans generations. An old friend comes home. I haven't quit smiling since.

5.0 out of 5 stars I finally found this on CD, I've worn out all the Tapes, October 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Cardiac Party (Audio CD)
I found this album in a cut out bin, almost fifteen years ago. Since then I have carefully hoarded it, copying it onto cassettes and wearing them out over and over again. If you appreciate great horn bands, articulate lyrics, and bands who truly compliment each other, you need this album in your collection. I just hope the CD arrives before the original tape wears out. When you get your album, make sure you have a copy for every car you own, one for work, one for home, and if a friend likes it, buy them a copy. It's cheaper than losing a friend because you Won't get it back!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'll Buy This As Many Times As It Takes, December 24, 2003
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

You need this album to make all your other albums jealous. This album will make all your other music want to try harder. It will make the rest of your collection want to keep up, well, except for the ones that kind of limp off into the sunset because they realize that they truly do not belong on your rack. Save yourself some time and put this rightous work of art up where it belongs. Watch it scare off the wannabes, and then just rub your hands and giggle as you give your ears the candy they truly deserve!! Five stars, 'cause they don't hand out six - sigh -

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Party Time, December 24, 2001

For anyone who grooves on the Soul-Shakin, Groove-Poppin, Fire-Up-Your-Mojo, Party Time sounds of such legends as Wilson Pickett, Booker-T, The Blues Brothers, Eddie Floyd, James Brown, and Sam and Dave, then Jack Mack and the Heart Attack, "Cardiac Party" is a must for you. These songs just kill at a party, and get everyone in the whole place dancing, drinking, and just general partying till the sun comes up. Typical Banker conservative types have been know to loosen up their ties, and wives can get too funky dancing to this stuff. Constantly voted the #1 Party Band of SoCal, you can enjoy the burst of energy, fun and spirit that these grooves will give you. Trust me on this, these blue-eyed soul poppers know how to get it started and keep on going. "It's Party Time"!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars L.A. been searchin', June 28, 2000

I can't believe this is finally out on CD! I was lucky enough to work with the band at several shows they did at the Palomino Club in North Hollywood. I was the club's lighting director and Max and the boys always rocked the place! Oh and for those fans looking for more recent music with Max as a vocalist; check out Max Carl and the Big Dance; think the singer will sound VERY familiar!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best in White boy Funk, February 11, 2000
By
This review is from: Cardiac Party (Audio CD)
I've searched for this c.d. for years, having worn out two albums (yes, vinyl!). Max Gronenthal is one of the most underrated vocalists of the past 20 years...He did a couple of albums with 38 Special in the early '90's but he shines on this very special record. Big band funk at it's best!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the funnest CDs you will ever own, December 1, 1999

I'm not into soul, but these tunes are very accessible to the average Joe. It's a great funny, funky, collection of songs that you'll listen to over and over again until the CD just won't play anymore!

5.0 out of 5 stars Start The Party!!!, December 19, 2001

The year was 1983 when Mr. Mike introduced me to the heart wrenching sounds of Jack Mack. It seems that every Saturday night we ended up at the Palomino or the Country Club to groove to the James Brown/Tower of Power/Memphis-style HEART ATTACK HORNS. There simply was no hipper group in the Southland. And the main attack was always staged by Max, that string bean screamer of blue-eyed soul. Mix in a few True Lovin' Women like the Kittridge sisters and you knew why the Cardiac Party was the hottest ticket in town.
The next time you need to crank it up, drop in the Jack Mack CD and START THE PARTY!!!!!
