Definitive Text of Cardiac Surgery - the "Gold Standard",
By A Customer
This review is from: Cardiac Surgery (2 Volume Set) (Hardcover)
This text goes beyond all other texts of cardiac surgery in the breadth & depth of information provided - both on background principles as well as clinical & operative fundamentals. While it may not be the best starting point to begin with when training in cardiac surgery (due to the sheer volume of information presented, especially on congenital heart lesions), it is invaluable as a reference at any stage of one's career as a cardiothoracic surgeon or cardiothoracic surgical aspirant. I appreciate this book even more post-fellowship than beforehand. It's consistent layout combined with superb clinical & operative information & illustrations make it the "gold standard". I can't recommend this book more highly!

The Best Book, period,
By Ian "wad378" (Glendale, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cardiac Surgery (2 Volume Set) (Hardcover)
The resident surgeon doesn't have time to grasp the concepts in the book, but he should have time to learn French? What a joke. If you can't grasp the concepts in this book, go into Dermatology. It is the only book on cardiac surgery you need. read it cover to cover, and you can't go wrong.

I don't really agree with the previous review. This book has a massive ammount of informations which the resident-surgeon has no time to grasp. Cardiac Surgery is a waste field which cannot be summarize in a single book. My advice is to :1-Study VERY GOOD cardiology (Braunwald or Hurst). Cheers |
