5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect ALL Metal Pet Gate
We started with this gate and added two of the height extensions. The combination is unbeatable! Our two German Shepherds have eaten and/or jumped every gate we've tried. This gate is ALL steel with the exception of two plastic bushings which are inaccessible to the dogs. This gate beats any of the gates with plastic handles, catches, locks, etc. No more "escapes"...

The item was not packaged properly and was sticking out of the box upon arrival. I was very disappointed in Amazon for selling a product in such a way.

4.0 out of 5 stars easy to install, February 13, 2008
i tried out a lot of gates for top of the stairs.this gate worked the best.it was easy to install, and the best part is the angle mount was great.i didnt even know that both ends of the top of the stairs was not even until i tried this gate.my toddler is tall 34 inches at 18 months! and this gate is tall enough for her.It is not possible for her to open the gate and she tried a lot and gave up.

i would recomend this gate to anyone .just one con it is very difficult to open with one hand carrying a child in the other.i have to put her down hold the catch away and then open it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gate - easy to install & use., January 4, 2009
By
We bought two of these to create a safe zone where our 12 month old can run around in our crowded apartment without us having to follow him around everywhere shouting "no". We all love this gate - even my son.

It is heavy duty so my 30 pound 12 month old can use it to cruise on or use for balance while he's dancing and it doesn't budge.

It's easy to install. It took abot 20 minutes for the first one - until I figured out to mark the holes for the screws then put it in the open position so I could get the electric screw driver into a good angle. The second one took about 10 minutes, but only because my son was climbing all over me while I was installing it.

It is very forgiving if you don't use a level and you install it a little crooked because a 12 month old is climbing on you.

The open bars allow my son to see what we're doing in the kitchen so he feels like he is with us - but he can't touch the hot stove or climb into the dishwasher. We can also see what he's up to.

And my favorite part - I can open it with one hand. We go in and out of the kitchen alot - carrying a baby or a plate of food in one hand - and we can pop it open and closed again behind us no problem. It will be a while before my son is tall enough and strong enough to figure out how to open it by himself.

Overall - we love them. We don't know what we would do without them - probably run around after a 12 month old all day shouting "no".

5.0 out of 5 stars Durable and easy to use!, December 31, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I absolutely love this gate! I had tried the pressure gates and my bulldog learned how to throw himself at it and knock them over very easily. I have several dogs and this gate is working very well so far. It is easy to manipulate to get through, can swing both ways, and is strong enough to hold back both the small and large dogs. Also, it is wide enough to fit in the frameless doorway that I needed it for without having to buy and extender!

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked like a Charm - Just what we were looking for..., May 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
GREAT PRODUCT - We are using it outside to help corral our 4-legged K-9 'kids' on the porch. Need to have 2 of them, but bought one to see how well it would work. We are VERY HAPPY with it, the spring latch rod works great; easy to use, yet strong & sturdy enough to provide peace-of-mind. It is easy for people to use, yet impossible for our 'kids' to push or jiggle to get out. We were looking for a metal gate to be used outside so it was important that it was not only sturdy enough to last, but also wanted to make sure it had a powder or rubber coating to protect the metal. This gate is sturdy and works great for our purpose. Have had it in use for a couple weeks, we are very pleased, and just ordered another one for the other end of the porch.

Our ONLY ISSUE has been the small mounted bracket the spring-latch rod locks into. Because we are using it outside and the gate is fastened to green pressure treated wood that twists as it dries, the little bracket had to be adjusted with the drying/twisting wood. Problem was simple to fixed - replaced the little bracket with a heavy screw-in eye bolt that can be adjusted quickly and easily as needed. WORKED LIKE A CHARM. We are certain when installed where the manufacturer intended way, that no modifications would be necessary. GREAT PRODUCT would highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Gate Ever!, March 12, 2011

We have tried at least 3 different pet gates none of them inexpensive, and none of them lasted much longer than a year. The last had plastic panels that my Doberman busted in no time. This gate is all metal, uses two allen head screws (wrench included) to secure the panels together once they are slid apart to the desired width. The catch is spring loaded and metal and is easy one-handed operation. It can be set up to swing both ways or one way only using the stop. The only potential downside to some (not me), is that this gate cannot be swung closed, you must manually close this gate. Based upon this gate's design and structural integrity I expect it will last quite a long time. Well worth the money.

Was east to install. It is not tall enough for my setup but that is easily fixed by adding some cardboard to the top.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gate and wonderful customer service!, June 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The gate is everything it claims to be. Install it with the long screws for drywall(I'd add drywall anchors) and short screws into door frames. In stalls quickly. My gate wouldn't expand. The clip was stuck on a screw. I called Cardinal and the man said it happens sometimes in shipping and he's send out a replacement immediately. He did. UPS came and got the old gate and left the new one and it was perfect! I love that it swings both directions or can be locked into just one direction. Easy to use. Highly recommend this company and product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I'd Bought This First!, June 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Our yellow lab mix has gone through three wooden gates, and it became clear he was not going to outgrow his puppy chewing phase. We bought this gate based on the positive reviews and couldn't be more pleased. It was easy to install and our dog doesn't even try to get out. We could have saved ourselves a lot of aggravation and expense if we had just bought this gate first. Oh well, better late than never!
