5.0 out of 5 stars Appeals to All Ages
When our grandchildren come to our house, they love to play this game which I have owned for many years. I often take it with me when I visit out-of-town grands because it's so popular. The wooden version is particularly pleasing and holds up well. Pieces are easy to find when dropped. I am thrilled to find that this excellent quality set is still available.

3.0 out of 5 stars solid wood is not true
Chinese checkers is a great game for teaching strategic thinking. I ordered this one for our family thinking that solid wood would be a pleasant tactile experience. I don't really like plastic. Chinese checkers is a great game for teaching strategic thinking. I ordered this one for our family thinking that solid wood would be a pleasant tactile experience. I don't really like plastic. Imagine my disappointment when I find, yes, a solid wood playing board, but a jumble of cheap little plastic checkers. Brightly colored, yes. Wood, no. Ick. I had a version that used marbles when I was a kid and I may try to find some marbles to use with this board. As for durability, the board will last forever, but the pieces didn't come with a bag (bring your own Ziploc) and the box is very cheap and will fall apart after a few uses, making it necessary to figure out a way to keep the pieces with the board. I thought we were getting a good value when I read the description, but I recommend looking a little further for a higher quality product.

One of my kids dropped it one time and the thing broke in half. We were disappointed. The board is made up of multiple pieces of wood glued together, and I guess the glue was weak in one spot.

It's too bad that we can't find a Chinese Checkers game with Marbles anymore. The moves are faster, and they don't have to be as exact. During a speed-round, the pegs are much too slow. THX!

My aunt taught me how to play this game, and then I played against her and won. It keeps you thinking, it's fast, and it's a lot of fun to hear the other person groan as you jump over five or his or her players. It's better than regular checkers, and more people can play, too! This is a great game for rainy days because it keeps everyone interested.

I am not sure why they call it Chinese checkers but I do know that this game is tons of fun. Unlike checkers you don't remove your pieces from the board but simply have to get your pieces to the other side. Another thing that makes this better than checkers is that the board is bigger so you have more room to move and you can play with up to eight players. Lots of fun for everybody.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Classic!, September 26, 2004

Chinese checkers, possibly as well liked as normal checkers, is a fun game that requires a good strategy. The goal of the game is to move your marbles into your opponent's triangle. You can move your marbles one space at a time, unless your marbles are placed so that you can jump them. The marbles are pretty, and the board is just as lovely and mesmerizing. My only caution is to keep track of the marbles, because they are easy to lose!

I would definately recommend this game. Even slightly younger children might learn to enjoy this game, as long as you keep the marbles away from their mouth!

As others have pointed out, the pegs are lightweight plastic and they are too short for the holes. As a result, they tip over if you breathe while playing, or if you touch a piece to move it, or if your opponents touch one of their pieces. This is more unstable than the old marble on a metal sheet games I've owned in the past. Very frustrating. Not suitable for adults nor for children.

This product arrived with 11 other sets in a box. I contacted the company and sent the 11 back I didn't pay for. I noticed that the board was smaller than I thought, and instead of using marbles, it uses pegs. I guess I didn't read the info close enough. It did arrive in good shape and in a timely fashion.

This is a horribly cheap production of the game; the quality I would expect if I had bought it from the Dollar Store. The wood is not oak as advertised; it is a cheap pine. The board is not finished as advertised; is a raw and slightly sanded. It would be impossible to create cheaper pegs. Would not care about the quality of it cost $1. Anything over that is a waste of money.
