5.0 out of 5 stars Great Classic Game with a twist
I recently purchased this item and my kids love it! Being that the product involves several components and different skill levels, I could see my kids playing with the for a long time. In reading the other reviews it looks like they might have gotten defective items. We did not encounter the problem that others have had with the spinners warping.

This BINGO game is truly awful. There are four different versions of the game - Colors/Shapes; Numbers; Animals; Addition/Subtraction. Each version has its own spinner that you drop in the base unit. The cardboard to which the spinners are attached was warped from the get go making it impossible to get true spins. And the spinner can't stop on all spots because of the warped cardboard. The animal card/spinner was broken out of the box. All in all, this is a cheap toy, unworthy of the LeapFrog name. Go for a traditional bingo game.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great concept very poor implementation, November 7, 2006
This review is from: Leap Frog Bingo (Toy)
I was very excited about this game until it came out of the box. It looks great for my 3 year-old but as in other reviews the spinner ruins the entire game. This should have been obvious at design and this game should never have made it to stores with this defect. It is particularly frustrating because the concept seems so good with a lot of thought put into the educational value. I think ill will is going to be the result of this penny minding in construction. Leapfrog could have further enhanced the brand with this product but fumbled.

My daughter is an only child and has way more than I ever had as a child. She usually loses interest in games/toys fairly quickly but we have had this game for years and we still play it. Whenever it comes time to purge, she makes it very clear that this one is a keeper. I haven't experienced any problems with quality mentioned in some of the other reviews.

We were on vacation and the hotel had games the guest's could check out. My boys, 5 and 3 years old, found this game and checked it out. We got back to the room and started playing, what a great game for learning. The kids almost didn't know they where learning and teaching each other new things. The best thing is when my 3 year old wanted to be incontrol of the "spinner" and call out the shapes. You know it's money well spent when your kids are having fun and able to learn at the same time.

THREE YEARS LATER: We still have this game, and my kids are now 6 and 4. They still love this game and is now great for my 6 year old who is doing beginning addition. However I downgrade it to 4 stars because the box quickly fell apart and so I had to go out and purchase a game box for this one. Also one of the spinners broke, making that card unusable but we can still use the other 5 cards. Still a decent purchase and we definitely got my money's worth!

____________

My 2 1/2 year old received this game for Christmas. She got the hang of it after playing it with us just once. Now she plays with it by herself or with others. The educational content is very age-appropriate: beginning numbers and counting, shapes and colors, animals and colors. It will definitely be a good tool to help her learn addition and math in the future.

When we first opened it, the cards were a little curved, but we were able to straighten them out with very little effort. Works great and is a great way to reinforce the educational content found on the Leapfrog DVD's and toys.

2.0 out of 5 stars Looks like a different version than our DISSAPOINTMENT, January 12, 2008
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars

The picture above looks like a different version that the bingo game we bought. Maybe they have changed the spinner face to address the problem (It also costs less that the one we bought). That said, here is whast happened with ours, which has 3 frogs aroung the circular spinner face:

I bought it for my four year old for Christmas, thinking that the simple shape, animal, and color bingo version would be great for her to play with friends, while she could play the more challenging addition and beginning letter games with an adult's help. Unfortunately, the interchangeable spinner faces are made of cardboard which was warped right out of the package. The same thing came up time and time again on the spinner, which makes it pretty difficult to play the game. It is also a pet peeve of mine when games with mutiple parts do not have an appropriate box for storage. This needs to have a box with a LID, not a side opening flap, and it should have an appropriate space for the chips, along with enough depth to put the spinners in.
We love our Leap Pads and railroad, but this was cheaply made and packaged.

I bought this game to give my kids something to do when we go to my mother's house. They're now 4 and 8 years old, and they really like it. It keeps them busy for a long time, which keeps the rest of us sane!
