5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy!
I actually bought this exact same set of chips (...)a few weeks ago, and it has been great! It has great display, and it's portable and keeps all the chips neat and in order. Great buy for those just starting out, or even those who have been playin for a while!

As has been noted on several other reviews on amazon, sure these are nice poker chips and save you a lot of $ as opposed to the clay sets. However, there is a BIG difference in the chips in this set as opposed to the other Cardinal sets, and you still pay the same price.

As has been noted on several other reviews on amazon, sure these are nice poker chips and save you a lot of $ as opposed to the clay sets. However, there is a BIG difference in the chips in this set as opposed to the other Cardinal sets, and you still pay the same price.

First of all, you will notice three different descriptions on the Cardinal products: Dual-toned chips, Quality Poker Chips, and Heavyweight chips. The ones included in this set are the dual-toned chips, which are the lightest weight and worst in quality that Cardinal makes. Also, they make the 100-chip sets of this quality. The ones included in the older Cardinal Texas Hold'Em tins are the Quality Poker Chips, which are essentially the same chip, but have a metallic center inside which makes the chips sound like they are clay chips when being used. The third set are the heavyweight chips which are included in the newer Cardinal Texas Hold'Em tins and in the 100-chip professional chip sets. The chips in these look and feel like clay chips, but you still only pay $19.99 for the Texas Hold'Em set and $9.99 for the 100-chip set.

So for those of you purchasing these sets for Christmas this year, be sure that if you're purchasing a significant amount of poker stuff this year, be sure to get the similar types of chips =)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value for the money, September 30, 2004

I just bought two of these sets so we could stop hunting pennies every time we play poker. The wood rack is fine. Obviously cheap, but well made and seems durable. Nice touch with the rotating base! Brass colored handle looks REALLY cheap with the brass-colored paint already cracking. The chips are cheap but look like they will be durable. The cards are of such low quality that I threw them away immediately.

Over all a good value for the money, but definitely NOT for SERIOUS poker players. Should I find, after using for a while, that these fall apart I will post an updated review.

If you are looking for some nice poker chips and are not able to pay $100+ on professional casino quality chips this is for you. It includes 200 poker chips (50 white, 50 red, 50 green, 50 blue). A decent wood rack that holds the chips, two packs of cards (included) and a dealer chip (also included). The rack handle is of poor quality and will lose its color quickly. But overall this is a nice rack of chips which have similar measurements of casino chips. That means you can practice chip tricks with these and impress your friends. 200 chips are OK but if want more chips you can find the Deluxe Poker Chips Tin right here on Amazon for 9.99 (200 Chips). If you ask me though, I would rather buy another Poker Rack (with 2 more pack of cards and dealer button) instead.

By the way if you were wondering the color value of the chips in casinos starting from the lowest is: white (usually 1 cent or $1.00), red (5 cents/ $5.00), blue (10 cents/ $10.00), and green (or yellow) (25 cents/ $25.00). Or like we do (since we play pretend) wh-$25, rd-$50, bl-$75, gr-$100; you know to have that James Bond/Vegas feel. Anywho, have fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars best chips sold over the counter, August 14, 2004

While on holiday in USA i came across a poker night in a bar. I am from London and am a casino dealer in London. I was very impressed with the quality of the chips being used on the poker night. I enquired and the owner told me where she purchased them. I have been trying to buy good quality chips at a reasonable price for some time now (i am used to using the best equipment and am extremely fussy). I couldn't believe my luck. The next day I went straight to the nearest Toys R Us store and purchased a box of 100 for $9.99 and a delux revolving poker rack for $19.99 - what a bargain. The chips in my opinion are of high quality at a very reasonable price. Now my friends and I can enjoy a poker night indoors with decent equipment and chips that don't fall out of your hand when trying to cut them (like they do in the casinos).

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, inexpensive chips, September 15, 2004

Just recieved the 200 set of chips w/rotating holder (...). For those looking to expand on the other offerings from Cardinal, the chip colors are white, red, green & blue (the amazon.com photo shows different colors than these). Also, unlike the 100 pack and the Texas Hold'em Set, the box does not label these chips as either professional weight or heavyweight.

I've never played with 11.5 gram chips before and so do not know how close these chips come, but they're adequate imho. The finish is a little sloppy, with some heat marks and imperfections with the white "suit" pattern encircling the chips. For those looking for professional grade chips, you'll want to look elsewhere. As for me, I'm just looking for some chips nicer than the cheapest Bicylce chips and these fit the bill.

The included cards and dealer button are pretty nice as well.
All in all, a good buy in my opinion.

<edit> In response to the request for chip breakdowns, it is 50 white, 50 red, 50 blue, 50 green

Ok me and my friends are 14, and we usually get together on friday nights and play poker at eachother houses. Everyone piched in like 4 dollars (5 of us) and we bought this. It is just what we needed! 200 chips is great, they are very durable, and the paint might not be perfect but hey we just want to play! I reccomend these for whoever just wants to have fun and play with friends/partys/ and just with family. a++ i am gonna buy some more chips though so we can have more players.

We've only had 1 family poker night but the 8-year olds enjoy it and so does Dad. Made a great Father's Day gift. Kids enjoy learning about probability and risk taking through poker and were delighted to see we'd gotten our own set.

The set looks nice but I wouldn't roughhouse with it. It does the job it's intended to do, and does it well.

These chips are a good substitute for the real clay ones. My friends and I usually play poker every day for $1 a game(buy in) and $5 a game(buy in)and these chips have worked great. Especially because you have an extra $100 in your poket
