4.0 out of 5 stars We don't hate Julia Roberts for making bad movies, do we?
It's amazing to me that the magazine reviewers keep talking about the game's developer rather than the game they're supposed to be reviewing. Kronos also made "Fear Effect," which has gotten some good reviews. Criticom was no less abysmal than Toshinden. DarkRift for the N64 was a good recovery, and Cardinal Syn for the Playstation ain't so bad!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad for the Price
When you generally see games in this price range you tend to expect little from it. That is probably why I was suprised with this game. It offers a very diverse choice of "fighters" to choose from. While the sound lacks, various levels of difficulty and excellant intro graphics make this game worth the price.

It's loads of mindless fun! 3D interactive worlds, Blood, dismemberment, maiming, magic spells, combos, special flatulation moves (from Mongoro), a story line, almost naked fighters with a special code, etc. It's a lot better thought out than Mortal Kombat, and the cinematic sequences are pretty good. You could do a lot worse with your money on a discounted game like this.

I can't believe this. Everyone says this game is "average" but as far I'm concerned, this game kicks some bootie. It is so much better then them cheap rip offs like mortal kombat and Tekken. Cause there is lots of blood and you can even perform fatalities in the middle of the match! What I'm trying to say is, this game is awesome if you like blood and stuff and in my opinion is a lot better then Mortal kombat or anything like that.

this no Solid Gear or Zone Of Enders, but it is one hell of a FUN game. you can get codes to dress down the female fighters in very revealing outfits, great blood graphics and very good fighting moves. ALmost prefer it to Tekken Tag on the PS2.

1.0 out of 5 stars I was not impressed., February 20, 2004

Aside from the cool characters, spectacular FMVs, and unique gameplay aspects (i.e., environmental hazards and crate-enclosed power-ups), this is one frustrating game. Whereas some people might find this title to be quite boring after a few days or so of playing it, I found it to be quite the opposite. The enemy AI tended to be cheap, and after rushing my way to each crate for a quick spell potion or health elixir, I only found myself getting shot in the back by my opponents' projectiles. The blood and fatalities were easy to swallow for a little while, but eventually I became sick of them. I didn't care for the feminine semi-nudity, either (not that I care for that kind of thing in my video games in the first place). The thing is, too, that I had bought this game this past Tuesday and returned the thing just yesterday. Needless to say, then, this title had lost its replay value in under a week in my house.

If either 989 Studios or Kronos Digital Entertainment, Inc. ever planned on making another fighting game, I only hope that they learn from the mistakes they had made when creating this one.
