Good Workout,

This review is from: Cardio Athletic Kickbox [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have been doing Taebo for about a month. I bought Cardio Athletic Kickboxing to replace the Taebo workout for certain days. I really enjoy both videos. I must say that the Cardio Athletic Kickboxing has a great ab. workout at the end of the video. The only complaint is that I don't sweat as much doing this workout compared to Taebo, therefore leaving me unsatisfied and wanting to do more. I rotate tapes, so I get the results I want. I recommend this workout for beginners, not advance. It will make you sweat, but if you regularly do high impact aerobics this isn't a video for you. You'd be better off with Taebo Advanced. The instructor in this video is very safe and wants everyone to have fun.

Finally, I have a second choice,

I workout with the Tae-Bo videos and have been looking for another video to use. The ones I tried were either for real beginners or required pads and other equipment. The Cardio Athletic Kickbox video was an unexpected surprise. It is a workout which will definitely burn a lot of calories while the workout is consistently upbeat and real fun to watch. The people in the video seemed to be genuinely enjoying themselves and that made me enjoy myself even more. Hopefully there will be a second video by Eversley Forte with his Cardio Athletic kickboxing workout. People who tried Taebo or other aerobic kickboxing videos should not be disappointed if they try Cardio Athletic Kickbox.

A Great Workout and It's Fun,

I have tried the Cardio Athletic Kickboxing video and several other cardio kickboxing video. I must say that the Cardio Athletic Kickboxing workout is much more fun and entertaining than all of them. The music is excellent and Eversley has an energy level that just gets you energized. It is an awesome workout with low impact and lower intensity options. As Eversley says "lets play hard, but lets play safe". He wants everyone to get the best workout possible, while doing it safely. The Athletic Drills are a refreshing change of pace during the workout. Overall, I recommend the Cardio Athletic Kickboxing video to anyone looking for a good home workout.

High Energy and very motivational,

I saw an ad for the video a few months ago and decided to check it out. It was definitely a good decision. The workout in the Cardio Athletic kickbox video is high energy and motivational, I feel like the instructor (Eversly Forte) is actually in the room with me. The people in the video are real people and not world class athletes like some other kickboxing videos have. To my surprise there were low impact alternatives to all of the moves. It is easy to follow and the music is much better than the usual video music people are accustomed to. It is not a fancy production, but it is quite effective. I took a chance when buying this cardio kickboxing video, but it turned out to be a very good investment. I give it a big thumbs up.

Enjoyable introduction to kickboxing; good for all levels,
This review is from: Cardio Athletic Kickbox [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a nice kickboxing routine led by a very competent instructor, Eversley Forte. Eversley begins by explaining how to use your Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) as a gauge for your own intensity level while performing the workout. He then goes into a 5-minute instructional segment which explains each of the basic punches that will be used doing the workout; once you are familiar with the kickboxing moves, you can skip over this section. The kickboxing segment begins with a lengthy (7-minute) warmup. During the warm-up, you will begin using some of the punches you learned; this section reminded me of the warm-up in Kathy Smith's Kickboxing Workout, as some of the moves are almost exactly the same. Eversley then moves into a 33-minute kickboxing routine. Like the title of the video suggests, the routine is very aerobic in nature, and exercises such as jumps and skipping rope (using an imaginary rope) are woven into the kickboxing moves. With respect to the kickboxing, Eversley focus mostly on punches, with only a few kicks included, although he does throw in a few basic kick-punch combinations. The aerobic/kickboxing segment is definitely intense, but you can modify the moves to reduce the impact, and Eversley frequently encourages you to take a break if needed. After getting your heart rate up, Eversley leads you through a 5-minute cool-down, and then he concludes the workout with a 5-minute abs segment performed on the floor. This short abs routine was surprisingly tough! Eversley is a very good instructor who gave better form pointers for the kickboxing movements than any other kickboxing instructor I've tried so far. However, this video included a bit too much traditional-type aerobics for my liking: I wish the workout had been more of a pure kickboxing routine similar to Kathy Smith's Kickboxing Workout (which is still my favorite), and I especially would have liked to have seen more kicks. Still, I enjoyed Eversley's style of teaching and would be likely to try another one of his workouts in the future.

Get jazzed about this one !,

This is the only video I have come across that motivates me to push myself without being in a class atmosphere. Safe, unrushed instruction allows for a complete muscle workout. If you have never taken an anaerobic class, you must try this.

AN AVERAGE WORKOUT,
By A Customer
This review is from: Cardio Athletic Kickbox [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am an aerobics instructor and have been one for 9 years. I purchased this video thinking I would get some great ideas for my kickboxing classes, as well as a great home workout. I was very disappointed. I have all of the Tae Bo tapes, as well as some Jennifer Steele, Aaron Langford and Kathy Smith tapes. The people in the video need instruction, themselves, on proper technique. I was so concerned that the girl in the front row was going to hurt herself because of improper technique that I found it hard to get a good workout, myself! For a good, safe and effective kickboxing workout, I would highly recommend the Kathy Smith Aerobox video over this one.

I enjoy working out to Cardio Athletic Kickbox, and am less prone to boredom than with other videos. Eversley is energetic, lively and has fun with the workout. The workout is intense and effective, but without awkward poses and difficult routines. I recommend the video.
