5.0 out of 5 stars great!, August 29, 2001

I am in pretty good shape, and I love this video. Throughout the first part of the video, you are using weights, but you are doing cardio and sculpting at the same time. It is a great burn! Then you isolate your muscles. That doesn't last that long, about five minutes. Then you do some floor work. Overall it is a wonderful workout, but I would not recomend it for beginners.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic workout that mixing toning with cardio!, November 10, 2010
This review is from: Cardio Sculpt [VHS] (VHS Tape)
With "Cardio Sculpt" being a fitness VHS from the 90s, I honestly wasn't sure if it would be a good workout or not, but MaDonna Grimes is an amazing instructor, and she delivers the moves in a way that guarantees the viewer will work out! MaDonna Grimes is a friendly, likable teacher that instructs in a way that makes you think she's a friend rather than instructor. She is able to make the workout fun without being over the top. Meanwhile, the workout itself is TOUGH. It's about a 30 minute workout that will strengthen and tone key parts of your body while also giving you a cardio workout. After doing a quick 4 minute warm up, MaDonna starts off with biceps. You will need light handweights for these curls, and by light I mean 3 lbs. or lighter. MaDonna starts off with slow, deliberate curls that she soon turns into extremely fast curls that heavy weights will not allow you to do without relying on momentum rather than muscle. And, really, she doesn't explain at all that you need to use muscle rather than momentum, which could prove unhelpful for beginners to exercise who don't know this. After you finish up with about 4 minutes of biceps, MaDonna moves on to 3 minutes of legs. This consists of squats, then knee lifts. Although it only lasts a short time, your legs will probably be burning by the time it's done. After legs, MaDonna then moves on to working you shoulders, back, and the areas around there; this lasts about 3 minutes, too. The next thing MaDonna does is isolations and standing abs. I found this section to be a little lackluster for me, but other people may find it beneficial. It lasts a grand total of 4 minutes, before the workout goes to 4 minutes of abs on the floor. This is another section that burns, and it is really effective on me. Finally, after the entire workout is completed, MaDonna finishes with about 6 minutes of stretching. Overall, this workout works out everywhere I need it to, and I am extremely satisfied with it. I highly recommend it as a workout that will tone your body while still giving you a great cardio workout.
