Unbelievable flexibility for testing at home.,
By I test for Cholesterol, HDL and Triglyceride on this unit. I also test for Glucose, but I do that on another system. The only downside with this system is that you need to make three seperate tests (meaning you have to use three different strips) to get the three values. To not have to prick my fingers three times in a row, I use a depper setting for the pin, so I can still squeeze blood out of the prick for the third test (yes, it hurts!). It takes a total of about 3 minutes or so to get the unit started, setup and through each test, so you have to be patient. It does take some getting used to the first couple of times before you get the hang of applying the blood. That's why I still test glucose on another system that need less blood and where it's easier to apply. Also the test strips for this unit are not really cheap. The application of the blood and the strip price make this a 4-1/2 stars in my mind rather then a full 5 stars. All in all this is a solid product, and I am very happy about the flexibility it gives me. I can test every couple of weeks now, which gives me the advantage of tying my values to life style changes and food choices.

A Pretty Good Home Testing Device,
I've been using one of these for a little over a year and I am pretty satisfied with it. However, it is a little tricky to use. For one thing you have to be careful in drawing the sample to avoid contamination from skin creams, lotions, etc. In addition, some people have a problem sticking themselves with a lancet or other sharp object to draw blood and the application of the blood to the test strip requires a steady hand. That being said, my results have been generally consistent from test to test (I test monthly), with only an occasional fluctuation in the results. I had the opportunity to have blood drawn for a lab test within 45 minutes of testing with the machine. The Total Cholesterol and HDL tests had a less than 10% difference. However, the Triglycerides results varied by a much larger amount. I'm not sure why this happened. The only real complaint I have is the cost of the test strips. Still, they are much cheaper than a lab test and are an easy way to track your cholesterol between visits to your doctor.

not very accurate,
My mother-in-law has this unit. I did the test at her home and received a total of 169. The next day I did a lab test and got a reading of 205. I am sure the lab test was correct. 36 points is to much of a difference to me.
