Advanced Cardiovascular Physiology Book,

This is a very thorough book that covers all aspects of cardiovascular physiology. The book definitely has a research-based theme to it; the authors use figures from research done to illustrate points. The book is not too long but is dense with material. You will likely re-read sentences to ensure that you understood certain concepts. Some people may not like the lack of hand-holding - but this is an advanced book so only purchase if you are already familiar with basic physiology concepts. The authors state that the book is intended for medical and graduate students. We used this book in our class "Applied Cardiovascular Physiology", for my graduate Exercise Physiology program. While our weekly PowerPoint lectures didn't directly reference this book, having read the material for each upcoming chapter ahead of the lecture prepared me for the concepts taught in class. However, I don't know that I would have learned as much without the lectures, meaning that this book alone may not be enough (for some people) to grasp the material. In that case you can use Wikipedia to expand concepts from this book, as I also did. Chapter 1 - Overview of the Circulation, Blood, and Hemostasis Chapter 2 - Excitation: The Cardiac Action Potential Chapter 3 - Automaticity: Natural Excitation of the Heart Chapter 4 - The Cardiac Pump Chapter 5 - Regulation of the Heartbeat Chapter 6 - Hemodynamics Chapter 7 - The Arterial System Chapter 8 - The Microcirculation and Lymphatics Chapter 9 - The Peripheral Circulation and Its Control Chapter 10 - Control of Cardiac Output: Coupling of Heart and Blood Vessels Chapter 11 - Coronary Circulation Chapter 12 - Special Circulations Chapter 13 - Interplay of Central and Peripheral Factors That Control the Circulation At some point, I will likely purchase Mosby's other Physiology Monograph books, which is a testament to the quality of this book. I wished though that Mosby would have allowed a "search" inside the book so you can browse it for yourself.

Our cardio physio teacher "highly" recommended this book and I must say that it does provide a great introduction to cardiovascular physio. The price isn't too bad and the chapters are not terribly long. The case questions at the end of each chapter help you to solidify concepts.

Cardiovascular Physiology: Mosby Physiology Monograph Series (Mosby's Physiology Monograph),
This review is from: Cardiovascular Physiology: Mosby Physiology Monograph Series, 9e (Mosby's Physiology Monograph) (Paperback)
The book is detailed and well illustrated. However, in contrast to other handbooks all figures are of the same color (blue). This make the figures more homogenious for perception and (probably) not so easy to recall.

Amazing engineering and objective explanations of the cardio physioology in a small and well explained book, not the medschool kind.

The person that sold me this merchandise was 100% honest about the condition of the book, which was worn but still good. I got exactly what I ordered at a fair price. The book was very educational, and was not too wordy (as some medical textbooks tend to be). The author was concise and capable when it came to outlining an idea or concept.

Received the book in great, shrink-wrapped condition without any bend marks from the shipping process!!I have yet to seriously read the book for my class, but from what I've glanced over, it does go quite in depth on some material. It can also be vague and general on some things as well. This book is also the same size and "style" as my Endo book, so I'm building onto to my little collection of bio books. :)
