5.0 out of 5 stars PANIC ATTACKS GONE AWAY!
I began taking this product 3 weeks ago for Panic Attacks and Anxiety. After YEARS on various Prescription drugs I recently heard about the effects of Magnesium Taurate on Panic/Anxiety. So far I have cut back to half the dose of Zoloft (which I've taken for the past 4 years) and 75% LESS Clonazepam! Hoping to be prescription Rx free very soon! I'm extremely happy with...

3.0 out of 5 stars Supplement preventative
I take this form of magnesium to also benefit from the calming effects of taurine. I am taking this as a preventative since magnesium is so important as a cofactor in bodily processes. One important preventative is regulating the heart's electrical processes. In this case, one cannot tell if it is doing anything obvious, but I feel it is important enough to take given...

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing results for PVCs & tachycardia (so far), April 10, 2008
This review is from: Cardiovascular Research - Magnesium Taurate, 125 mg, 60 capsules (Health and Beauty)
I bought the 500mg magnesium taurate supplement (from amazon.com partners vitaminshoppe.com) and I am very pleased with the results. There are 180 pills and I am taking 1 a day (though you can take up to 2). I noticed a lessening in the frequency of PVCs within 48 hours and by the 5th day they had all but disappeared from counts in the 1000s.

I had finally gone to see a cardiologist and was told that I would be using a 30 day event monitor about a week before starting magnesium taurate. I mentioned this supplement to him and he asked me why I thought that this supplement was safer than FDA-approved prescription drugs. He said he might want to put me on medication to lower my HR (which was 109 in his office). I told him that the omeprazole I was on (for GERD) was making my HR faster (and nerves!) but he prescribed the 30 day event monitor (I had already worn the 24 hour Holter 4 years prior and was told 2 months ago - that's how rarely I go to the doctor - that I was diagnosed with PVCs hence my need to finally see a cardiologist).

So, I started taking magnesium taurate the day after strapping on the 30 day event monitor. Day 1 my baseline resting HR was 105. Yesterday, after 2 weeks on magnesium taurate my resting HR was 72. My PVCs have all but disappeared. I had a few yesterday but that may be due to the fact that I just started my menstrual cycle yesterday. Today I am back to 0 PVCs and no tachycardic episodes (I have only had one minor one since starting magnesium taurate and registered it on the monitor but my HR was back to normal within 2 - 3 minutes and the HR was nowhere near as fast as it has gone in the past).

So, coincidence or is this mineral supplement working? I want to think it's working. I feel like a black cloud has been lifted off my shoulders. I am hopeful that it's the magnesium taurate. I WILL be telling the cardiologist about these results. If it saves me from having to have a wire fed into my heart then it works for me! :o)

This was prescribed by my doctor for muscle cramps. It's the ONLY suupplement that I've found that does work, and I've had no side effects. I had been fighting cramps for 20 years!

5.0 out of 5 stars Astonishingly effective on irregular heartbeats (PACs), December 22, 2009
This review is from: Cardiovascular Research - Magnesium Taurate, 125 mg, 60 capsules (Health and Beauty)
Have had PACs and occasional (lone) atrial fibrillation for four years. Hospitalized 2 or 3 times for afib. Until I started taking this product, I had hundreds (perhaps 1000s) of PACs per day. Cardiologist stated that these were "benign" and recommended anti-anxiety meds. I tried these because I had read about the effectiveness of magnesium for these symptoms. I tried other (cheaper) forms of magnesium with inconclusive results. I started taking 3 pills per day. PAC episodes greatly lessened after a few days. I am now almost symptom free. I take one in the morning and two before sleeping (to stop the "poundies"). I feel like my life has been given back to me. I can exercise more vigorously, and even enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning with no ill effects. I had forgotten what life was like before the palpitations started. No side effects so far after three weeks. I hope they never stop making this stuff.

4.0 out of 5 stars All Magnesium is Good, and Some are Probably Better, September 15, 2009

This review is from: Cardiovascular Research - Magnesium Taurate, 125 mg, 60 capsules (Health and Beauty)
I also have read the reports how this form is superior. It may very well be, but my advice to you is to start with cheap drugstore magnesium. This will be magnesium oxide, usually in 250 mg pills. You can get a bottle of 100 of these, usually for around $[...]

For many people, taking 2 or 3 of these "drugstore" pills a day is sufficient to solve their problems. For example, leg cramps is a common symptom of magnesium deficiency. Almost everyone in the modern world is suffering from a magnesium deficiency, it is simply not in most people's food in sufficient quantity. I take between 500 and 800 mg per day.

I have purchased and used these particular magnesium pills. They are low dosage, because of the form they are in. But they seem well absorbed and I was willing to reorder them.

When I first start ordering them, Vitamin Shoppe had some sort of deal with Amazon, and shipping was only 99 cents. And Vitamin Shoppe shipped very quickly and they were at my door in a day or two. A good deal.

My advice again: you should take some magnesium, even if it not the ultimately best form. Take at least the daily government requirement, and experiment with other forms of magnesium, as you find it necessary. If you need a version of magnesium which is more easily absorbed, and other versions have not worked, then certainly try this type.

UPDATE: Although I still like Magnesium Taurate and Magnesium Penetrator (see below), I find the new "chelated" magnesiums to be better than all the other forms. The chelated forms are far less likely to cause bowel distress, since they are in a form that looks like food to the digestive system. I have tried several brands, all with good effect.

Chelated Magnesium (250mg) 180 tabs, 250 mg, 180 tablets

Doctor's Best
Doctor's Best - High Absorption 100% Chelated Magnesium, 120 tablets, 120 tablets

Also, Magnesium Penetrator is much more easily absorbed than typical magnesium.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Americans suffer from magnesium deficiency and related ailments, July 19, 2006

The mineral magnesium is largely overlooked as a nutrient which is essential for good health. Most doctors and laboratories don't even include magnesium status in routine blood tests. Thus, most doctors don't know when their patients are deficient in magnesium, even though the majority of Americans are deficient in magnesium. And magnesium deficiency is very important. In fact, magnesium deficiency is a significant factor -- often the major factor -- in many severe illnesses including heart attacks and other forms of heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, fatigue, diabetes, migraines and other headaches, osteoporosis, insomnia, and most cases of muscular problems. Because magnesium deficiency is largely overlooked, millions of Americans suffer needlessly from the foregoing ailments or are having their symptoms treated with expensive drugs (which often have unpleasant or dangerous side effects) when many could be cured with magnesium supplements such as this.

Anyone interested in learning more about the importance of magnesium and magnesium supplements for good health should acquire and read the excellent and very readable book The Miracle of Magnesium by Dr. Caroyn Dean which is available from Amazon at a very reasonable price. So should their doctors.

I am 30 years old and for the past several months I've been waking up in the middle of the night with a pounding hearbeat after drinking alcohol. It is very annoying. I only drink socially, am otherwise healthy and do not take any medication. After a lot of research I decided to try out magnesium taurate and it has helped tremendously. I no longer wake up with a pounding hearbeat after a night of drinking, whether it is just one drink or a few. I also suffer from anxiety and I wouldn't call this a miracle cure for that, but it does help me feel a little more balanced.

I use the magnesium taurate to help me get to sleep and stay asleep as well as cure those powerful leg cramps I get.

Magnesium oxide did not help, but caused diarrhea. Magnesium malate was better but had to take more.

The taurate is the only formula that easily helps without unwanted side effects.

Love the capsule form as well. I also have 250 mg at bedtime and sleep, so important, is back to being easy again.
