The kids I work with love this game,

I see quite a few kids in my work as a therapist. I have found that the kids who are old enough to understand the rules (usually 5+) really love this game. This game, in my experience, can benefit kids who are learning their letters, learning to read, and/or kids who are working on their speaking abilities. They like it since it's a fun way for them to practice and learn without it feeling like school or homework. I would actually recommend this to parents and I'd say you should set aside some time a couple nights a week to play this and other (educational) games with your kid(s) since part of what makes the kids like it is that you're there playing with them. It's a great way to encourage and support them as they learn. Also, this doesn't have to just be about the letters since each card has an animal on it and the type of animal written out below so it can also help with reading. For example, I'll ask the child, "Do you have an 'A' as in 'Alligator'?" and they will have to do the same on their turn so they learn to associate the picture of the animal with the word. And, of course, they love to win and then count out how many pairs they got (good for learning/practicing counting too!). Basically, I can't speak highly enough of this game. It encourages learning, practicing numbers, letters, reading, speaking, and healthy competition, and gives them some always needed attention at the same time.
P.S. - For kids who don't get the rules just yet, it can be played as a matching game!

the cards are too big for little hands to hold. The way the big letters and little letters go together with the big and little animals is exelent. They just need to make the cards normal size or smaller.

My son is really having a hard time with identifying the ABC's. So since I volunteered in my daughter's class - I asked her Teacher Aide if she had any ideas for me on helping to recognize the letters. She suggested this game and it was a great fit. First...I am playing the memory game with the "Mommy and Baby" Letters. Once he starts recognizing them well enough...we will start playing the "Go Fish Game" and identify the Big/Little letters = Lower and Upper Case letters.

Under 2 bucks shipped (with Prime of course) Hard to complain. I like them for my 3 year old. Helps him learn. Cards are slightly bigger then standard cards which can be a little hassle as he can't hold them in his hand and see them all (fanning them out like a poker player, if you will...)
Also, only other gripe (I'm trying hard) is the cards are based on animals, etc. For example. The "A" card may have an alligator on it. Makes sense. The "X" has a Fox and the X is underlined. I can see how they may have to do that, but...Like I said, that's my biggest complaint. 5 stars from me. Buy it!

My daughter is in 4K so learning her "big and little" letters as this game uses. I don't know where she learned about the Go Fish game, but she was so excited to have this game! There are 2 cards for each letter in the deck - one big and one little, and the goal is to match the letters regardless of size. Some of the pictures aren't easily identifiable to her (whale versus dolphin, etc) but its just one more learning aspect to the game.
Just this weekend we introduced our 5-year old friend to GO Fish and the letters version. He has not yet been as exposed to letters as my daughter, and he really liked this game. His mom was impressed with how quickly he picked it up - both the game rules and the letters themselves, so I have to say this game is not only fun but very educational. I think within the next 6 months she will be ready for something different, but for the price of a regular deck of cards the educational value makes these cards definitely worthwhile! |
