Enjoyable Children's Movie, June 18, 2005
This review is from: Care Bears:Adventures in Wonderland [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I remeber this movie so well. I grew up with CareBears (more or less), and this one movie always stood out for me for some reason. It always made me laugh so much! Granted I was about 5 when I first saw it (years after it came out) and made my dad tape it though... I'm sure that had something to do with my liking it so much.
But then again, I still found it funny at age 9 and 10 (after forgetting about it for awhile during a move), and even my parents liked it as far as children's movies go. It's a sweet, simple movie, but it won't overly bore you out of your skull like other movies for preschoolers can. The songs are tolerable to likable-- I was esp. fond of the Chesire Cat's song and the last song.
And unlike the other 2 CareBear movies, this one has no overly scary character that might frighten the more timid children. If you're concerned about that, I would definetly reccommend this one over the other 2 (though those 2 never scared me, and I was a kid who could NEVER watch the nightmare scene in "All Dogs Go to Heaven").
What's it about? It pretty much retells the story of "Alice in Wonderland" but with a twist. Well actually, it would be better said that it uses characters from "Alice in Wonderland" for a new story that involves the CareBears because the White Rabbit is Swiftheart's uncle. Anyways, the CareBears and a girl named Alice help to save Wonderland from an evil wizard (and his stupid henchmen) who wants to become king. The princess of Wonderland has gone missing, and since Alice looks exactly like the princess, she fills in while some of the CareBears search for the missing princess. And throughout this whole story, Grumpy desparately tries to find something to eat! The end sequence is esp. priceless.
I have to say it's my favourite of the CareBear movies. I still find it very fun and entertaining all these years later, though that's not saying much since I'm still very fond of cartoons. Maybe this movie helped with that.
