This book was most interesting and informative.,

This review is from: The Care and Feeding of Your Brain: How Diet and Environment Affect What You Think and Feel (Paperback)
I found that this book covered a great deal of information but was presented in way that made it quite simple for the reader to understand. I learned alot of things about the brain that I did not know before and I am a BSN, RN. I found that I could not put the book down. I read it in one evening and it did not feel as if I were reading a text book . Cudos to the author for a concise well written book.

Have had problems with depression for many years and I started therapy recently. This book helped me comprehend the factors that led to and kept me stuck in a rut. Used it with my therapist to help explain the medication options. He is now recommending it to his other patients.

Talked to writer on net newsgroup then bought book.,

This review is from: The Care and Feeding of Your Brain: How Diet and Environment Affect What You Think and Feel (Paperback)
The writer has halped a lot of people on the internet fibromyalgia newsgroup. I told myself "buy the book", because he helped me and my doctor solve a problem with painful withdrawal symptoms from Paxil. He also made lots of recommendations about natural remedies that worked and what I should not buy and buy. The book he wrote spells out his philosophy and principles of "caring for the brain" really well. It was fun to read it. You will see.

Don't waste your money,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Care and Feeding of Your Brain: How Diet and Environment Affect What You Think and Feel (Paperback)
This book should be called "Your brain has parts, andstuff happens to it". It doesn't deliver on the care and feeding title at all, the whole thing is numbingly repetitive, and it's written at a 6th grade level. There is nothing about what you should drink or do drugs, caffiene and stress are bad, there are lots of nutrients and supplements that your brain can use (duh!). There is nothing about dosages or consumption guidelines, its like saying "You can improve your brain" without telling you anything else . . . Sorry if I sound so harsh, I just feel totally ripped off . . . 1 minute looking at this one would let you know it's incredibly shallow and has no guidelines for "Care and Feeding"

This review is from: The Care and Feeding of Your Brain: How Diet and Environment Affect What You Think and Feel (Paperback)
I'd expect an M.D. & anesthesiologist to at least get his medications correct! Not once, but twice, he states that Wellbutrin is an S.S.R.I., pg. 84. It is common knowledge that Wellbutrin is a dopamine & norepinephrine re-uptake inhibitor & not an S.S.R.I.. How can I trust other suggestions Kenneth Giuffre makes, when such a simple fact is false? It is very repetitive & I plan to find many more errors & report on them. He's also affiliated w/ Astra Zeneca, a big drug company, that has had many lawsuits.

most enlightening & informative study of "what makes us tick,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Care and Feeding of Your Brain: How Diet and Environment Affect What You Think and Feel (Paperback)
The care and feeding of your brain is a most enlightening and informative study of "what makes us tick" from the four areas of the brain to the most recent research on the function of the brain. Especially fascinating are the many "boosters" and "zappers" in lifestyles and foods that affect the brain conditions and can create a healthy happy life...

I brought this book to a networking group 2 days ago. After browsing through it, a couple of them said they were going out immediately to buy the book, one asked me to buy it for her. I am ordering that one now! One of my friends was starting a corportate stress reliever business. This book was perfect timing for her! I certainly didn't realize a lot of the "boosters" and "zappers" that I have in my life and diet everyday. Not only does the knowledge help me, I can understand and guide my children better!

I am a future author of a personal book about epilepsy.,

This review is from: The Care and Feeding of Your Brain: How Diet and Environment Affect What You Think and Feel (Paperback)
I recently purchased "Care and Feeding" and I am thoroughly enjoying reading it. I have a personal interest in the brain because I had epilepsy as a child and young adult...You have reinforced much of what I already 'knew' about the brain, but before now I did not have the medical explanation for what I 'knew' to be true.'

Real info on aphrodisiacs and drugs.,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Care and Feeding of Your Brain: How Diet and Environment Affect What You Think and Feel (Paperback)
Lots of good reading in this short book but I found info on aphrodisiacs and drugs most useful. Explains why most illegal drugs mess up the brain, and which "smart pill" herbal things like St. Johns Wort and Ginko are OK for you.

Much info, bad style,

This review is from: The Care and Feeding of Your Brain: How Diet and Environment Affect What You Think and Feel (Paperback)
This book was not exactly what i expected, but it does have lots of usefull infomation. The writting style however, leaves much to be desired, as im sure mine does here :) Everything in the book is called either a booster or a zapper or both that is it improves brain function or reduces it. While this is great im sure if you are using this as a laymans reference book to the brain, it makes it a very repetitive and chunky read , if you read in a linear fashion. But it did increase my knowledge about the brain greatly. this book is worth reading but i would recommend first buying Change your Brain change your life, as a more interesting read. I also was shocked by some of the things concerning illegal recreational drugs that he pass off as facts. Such as MARIJUANA is frequently LACED with PCP so even though it does benefit the brain in some instances say away from it. Come on, thats war on drug propanganda that rarely if ever happens but anyways on whole its an interesting and informative book that left me dissapointed in several areas but gave me much knowledge
