5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Story, April 25, 2009
By
This review is from: In Care Of Sam Beaudry (Silhouette Special Edition) (Mass Market Paperback)
They tell us not to judge a book by its cover, but Eagle's new Special Edition has a great cover and a story to match.

Nurse Maggie Whiteside recently moved to Montana with her young son. The boy idolizes Sheriff Sam Beaudry. Maggie and Sam are attracted to one another, and Sam's mother Hilda already has the two paired off.

What's the holdup? A dying woman arrives in town with her seven-year-old daughter. The only thing little Star knows is what her mother's told her--that she has a grandma, and her name is Hilda Beaudry.

Star takes to Hilda immediately, and to Maggie and her son, too. As for Sam--well, he had a history with her mother, all right, but he doesn't believe Star's his daughter. Sam's a natural-born protector, though; it's not in him to let a little girl down.

The problem is, Star and her mother brought trouble in their wake--another piece of Sam's history. Soon Maggie's playing detective, and then she's in danger ... and a family that was meant to be might never come together.

In Care of Sam Beaudry rides the territory between frisky and heartfelt. The dialogue crackles and the characters come alive on the page. Sam and Maggie will stay with you long after the final page has been turned and the ending has put a smile on your face.

4.0 out of 5 stars Characters You'll Love, April 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Sam Beaudry, mixed blood sheriff of Bear Root County is dependable and an all around good guy. Keeping the people of the small Rock Mountain community safe was a job he took seriously. But things haven't always been that way, and when a young girl arrives claiming to be his mother Hilda's granddaughter, Sam's lifestyle takes a sudden change.

Two years ago, nurse Maggie Whiteside moved to Montana with her son Jim. The boy idolizes Sam and the sheriff and Maggie are attracted to one another. Star's arrival unsettles the budding relationship Sam has with Maggie, but he's a protective man, and even though he doesn't think he is Star's father, he will do anything for the young girl who has traveled all the way from California to see her grandmother.

Star's mother, with whom Sam has a history, is dying, and she does die before she and Sam can talk. Soon, another part of Sam's history comes to town..someone who spells danger for Sam, Star and Maggie.

Kathleen Eagle has penned many stories of the West, some of them with Native American heroes. Strong plots, compelling characters and great dialogue are a hallmark for this fine author. You'll love the mix of playfulness and warmth in this story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Always a good read, March 25, 2010
This review is from: In Care Of Sam Beaudry (Silhouette Special Edition) (Mass Market Paperback)
If you are new to reading Kathleen Eagle, you can't go wrong with In Care of Sam Beaudry. Kathleen's characters are richly textured and her pacing and tone of her stories always keep you guessing and interested in what they'll do next. The heartfelt interactions such as between the grandmother and the little girl Star are joyful.

I picture a young Sam Elliott, the actor, playing the somewhat gruff Sam Beaudry.
Enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Solid Read, July 28, 2010
I have read all of Kathleen Eagle.s novels and have enjoyed most of them. This one was a winner. It reminded me of her older books which unfortunately are not on Kindle. You should enjoy the story of Sam Beaudry. I did.
