This review is from: Career Ideas for Kids Who Like Sports (Hardcover)
I bought this as a teacher appreciation gift for my 5th grader's P.E. teacher. I donated the book to the school library in her honor, but first, I gave it to the teacher to see. She loved it!
The book offers a variety of ways to be involved with sports as a profession without being a pro athlete. Many kids and youth only think of pro athletes (or P.E. teachers) when they think of sports beyond high school or college. The book offers a myriad of ways that one can stay closely involved with athletics in one's career without being a pro athlete or teacher. The only thing I would change about the book is that I wish it had included "sports statistician" as a career option. For kids who enjoy both sports and math, this is a great option, and it's one that few think to follow. Aside from this, I thought the book offered a good variety of choices for career options (I gave the book to the library a few weeks ago and can't remember all the choices now). Take a look at the book's table of contents to get ideas. My child's teacher was delighted with the book's approach, and she was excited to have a resource in the school library for kids who demonstrate interest in a sports career. The book is written in such a way as to engage young readers (I'd say grades 3-6) and capture their interest. I recommend it. |
