5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read for Career Changers, May 30, 2011
This review is from: Career Satisfaction and Success: A Guide to Job and Personal Freedom (Paperback)
Bernard Haldane is considered to be the Father of Modern Day Career Counseling and almost all career counselors use his techniques in one form or another. The most significant part of this book is the SIMS process or "System to Identify Motivated Skills." Haldane later calls this "dependable strenghts". This process helps career changers identify their innate strengths and motivators by identifying patterns from positive life experiences. These dependable strengths are critical in helping people find satisfying employment. Haldane has written this book in an easy to use workbook format and sprinkled it with case studies that are easy to relate to. I highly recommend this book for job seekers and employment specialists alike.

This review is from: Career Satisfaction and Success: A Guide to Job and Personal Freedom (Paperback)
This book by Dr. Bernard Haldane, with intro by Peter Drucker was the first book ever written in this field. Dr. Haldane was the first to say " If on Monday morning you wish it was Friday afternoon, then you are either in the wrong career or wrong company. Dr.Haldance is acknowledged by those in the field as the Father of Career development, and the success factors that are critical to find the right job with the right company. A must reading for anyone not happy at the job and career that they are in. Also,in 1947 he signed the first outplacement contract with the U.S. Government, he called it re-employment rather than outplacement.
